WildStar is buffing its security ahead of its Steam launch

There was something beautiful and wonderful and it destroyed itself.

New security measures land in WildStar today. According to Carbine’s blog post, the studio is implementing new IP checks upon login.

“When logging into WildStar, you may notice a new prompt asking you to verify your IP address before you can enter Nexus. Have no fear!” writes the studio. “This is a measure to ensure the utmost safety and security of your account, and to help protect all of your hard earned money, space junk, housing décor, or whatever else it is that you’re currently hoarding.” Players will simply be rerouted to the account management page, where they will verify their IP with a code sent to their email account — standard stuff for MMO players.

We’re assuming this is just one more way Carbine is buffing up the game’s security ahead of its impending Steam launch. As for when that’s coming, we still do not know; the Steam leak that suggested the Steam launch was coming June 1st was clearly in error.
