Ex-SOE devs craft tactical shooter Kinetik

Doesn’t it seem like so many games these days are hybrids that pull together elements of different genres to see if they can fashion a new and interesting Frankenstein monster out of them? Kinetik is yet another title that’s doing this, liberally borrowing from the shooter, RPG, and cover-based squad genres.

The upcoming shooter is the first project by Hero Machine, a studio founded by ex-Sony Online Entertainment developers. Players will take on the roles of near-future soldiers, working together to battle NPC enemies and other gamers in various environments. Kinetik promises plenty of customization and leveling elements, as well as a companion drone that players can kit out.

Kinetik just launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $150,000 for additional development. The team is expecting the game to go into early access testing on the PC by the first part of 2017, followed by Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions. You can watch the trailers for Kinetik after the jump!
