CCP has today announced a free update for VR-centric EVE: Valkyrie, the star of which is a new game mode called Carrier Assault.

“Until now the enemy’s carrier has been off limits,” explains the studio. “An impenetrable flying fortress that could cut you down before you even grazed its shields. Now, you will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with it! Battering down its defences and carving out a path to deliver the killer blow and put that clone vat out of action in an explosive finale.” In the mode, players will move from skirmish to siege on their way to the carrier’s center in a very Star Wars Death Star trench style gameplay sequence.

Players can also expect the new Crossroads multiplayer map for scout and survival PvE modes, new multiplayer mode selection, boost gate, menu updates, and a ship balancing pass. The update launches June 20th. Watch the whole trailer below.
