Broadsword’s Ultima Online TOU briefly befuddles players with Sony mention

Broadsword, the EA spinoff company that runs classic sub MMORPGs Ultima Online and Dark Age of Camelot, gave UO players a scare yesterday with a new patch and a new terms of service agreement that referred to Sony Computer Entertainment instead of Broadsword.

As of this morning, we have personally verified (because hey, I pay for this game) that the TOU in the enhanced client has been repaired to properly refer to Broadsword, leading players to conclude that EA had not sold Broadsword to Sony; some accused Broadsword of botching a cut-and-paste of a document lifted from another company. The TOU on the official website has also been amended.

When reached for comment, Broadsword’s Bonnie Armstrong told us that the TOU that was posted was an old version uploaded in error.
