Crowfall talks modular strongholds and higher prices

If you build it, it will... well, be built, mostly.

The original plan for Crowfall‘s strongholds was that each one would be built on a single template. It wasn’t the ideal solution for the designers, but it was the ideal solution for the game’s existing budget and development. As said development progressed, however, it became clear that the strongholds could easily be handled with modular technology instead, allowing everyone to put together a customized stronghold using pieces assembled according to personal taste. A happy ending for everyone! Except for the fact that the pricing for strongholds had been set when they were just templates, meaning that the new version was massively underpriced.

The good news here is that if you already own a stronghold from Kickstarter or from purchase, you’ll get full access to what you paid for and more besides, complete with modular construction. Any further strongholds purchased through the end of the month will also use the old pricing. Strongholds purchased moving forward, however, will be more expensive to match the modular construction system. The stronghold system is also planned to be implemented in testing at the end of the month, so if you want to get yourself a stronghold at a cheaper price, you have until the end of August.
