The Daily Grind: Which MMO has the most welcoming community you’ve experienced?

There’s nothing worse for me when I’m playing an MMORPG than to be in a game where the community is either purely toxic or wholly indifferent. If I don’t connect with a guild or group, I usually fail to plant roots in that game and end up drifting away over time.

Conversely, one of the best MMO experiences I can have is to step into the open embrace of a community that actually seems to care — about the game, about its players, about each other. My heart is lifted when I see players cheerfully answering questions posed by newbies, cheering each other on, and welcoming others into their guilds and friendship circles.

It might be hard to judge an MMO as a whole, but in general, which game has the most welcoming community you have ever experienced? For me, the answer is definitely Lord of the Rings Online, which to this day contains some of the most selfless and supportive folks I’ve met online. What about you?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
