Risk is for people who don't like winning all the time.

The most recent large patch for Albion Online is live and in the wild right now, and if you’re playing the game’s beta, you probably have had plenty of time to familiarize yourself with its changes. A new development update video with game director Robin Henkys takes a look back at the changes made with Faye and responds to player feedback, both good and bad.

For example, some players are curious about why the game now has guard towards scattered around in crucial locations. The reason comes down to simple risk analysis; while the developers want to encourage PvP, they also want to discourage PvP that consists of camping at choke points with absolutely zero risk. Guard towers make that more dangerous, although the development staff will adjust them downward if they find that the towers are serving to stymie PvP outright.
