Legion assaults will keep World of Warcraft players on their toes

Demons are forever in style now.

World of Warcraft’s demonic invasions and world quests are pregnant, and that baby is coming with Patch 7.2 in the form of legion assaults.

Yesterday, Blizzard gave a short preview of the new legion assault system coming in the next content update. “We all loved invasions and initially pursued that same approach for patch 7.2,” the studio said. “Unfortunately, invasions would have been tremendously disruptive to gameplay for those who were leveling up, even though that might have been the easiest path for us to take. We also thought we’d learned a thing or two both from invasions and the world quest system we introduced at the launch of the expansion.”

When legion assaults go live, players will see which zone is under attack and can work to repel the invasion by accessing a variety of encounters via the world quest system. The good news? All of these encounters count toward emissary quests. If players do well enough with their efforts, a final showdown will take place and the loot gods will hopefully smile upon all.
