DC Universe Online adjusts abilities to have a little more impact

The stat revamp for DC Universe Online is an ongoing process with a lot of moving parts, and that means that none of those parts are finished moving until all is said and done. The most recent adjustment to the revamp is only about three changes, but those three changes ripple outward to have a big impact. Tank pulls have their cooldowns lowered, some heals have increased potency, and weapon buffs have increased duration. That’s it.

It sounds small, but all three have big implications for actual gameplay. More potent heals make the healing process less focused on spamming one ability and more focused upon landing something with impact, while faster tank cooldowns make it easier to pull things and move faster without fear of losing control. The weapon buffs also synergize better with other ability and help ensure that weapon-based playstyles will still work. These changes are on the test server now, so you can see how they shake out for yourself if you’re so inclined.

Great game, but I’ve noticed that sometimes PC players and PS4 players don’t always mix. Anyone else notice that sometimes?

Damnit, it’s such a shame that the game is graphically such low quality, especially on PC. Because every time I see screencaps etc. I’m instantly drawn to its art style (which I adore), but each time I boot it up I’m reminded at how utterly barebones the graphical options are and consequently, how ugly the game is left looking.

Proper anti-aliasing, at the very least, would go a lllllooooooonnnnngggggg way in improving the visual appearance/quality of the game.

You could force AntiAaliasing with NVIDIA.

Its not even a case of the engine not supporting the ability to render things higher. The devs force the lower quality on purpose!! Its the unreal 3 engine for pete’s sake. It capable of MUCH better looking graphics.

I grew sick of looking at such a blurry city, and low resolution textures that even these new positive gameplay changes wont bring me back.

at the very least, they could allow higher quality options via the normal Unreal Engine config file, but they have also disabled the ability to do this.

Back in the day, when the game was on the PS3, they had to lower the rendering to perform on the lesser console. Today, with the game being on PC and PS4, THERE IS NO FREAKING EXCUSE not to remove these intentional shackles.

The funny thing is that they touted a “big” graphical update, that would hit PC as well, when they ported the game to PS4. It ended up being some slightly better quality textures (slightly) and minor improvements to stuff like lighting/shaders. Overall, kinda nice but extremely underwhelming, especially on PC where there still isn’t anything in terms of proper borderless windowed mode etc.

It’s really a damn shame how terrible of a state the PC client is. I get that the majority of their revenue comes from consoles, but I think if they offered a reasonably decent experience on PC (specifically in terms of graphical options) they’d have had much more success. Because PC players don’t like dealing with nonsense that’s a result of consoles holding back a game.

The trailer looks like they just put a gauzy filter on the “Before” footage in post.
