Star Wars: The Old Republic offers players more than a month of massive XP boosts

S-words.
So you’ve got some alts in Star Wars: The Old Republic who haven’t yet reached the level cap. You also have a lot more Galactic Command experience to farm, and you’re not really sure what you should do first. The good news is that you shouldn’t worry about not doing either right now, because starting on February 7th players will earn 250% experience and Galactic Command experience from doing… well, everything. Yes, more than doubled.

Better yet, this vastly increased speed is going to last until April 10th, which means you’ll have more than a month to fly up in levels across the board. So you’ll be leveling twice as fast and then getting endgame gear twice as fast through most of February and all of March. The down side is that it might make any work you do today feel like a waste of time, but you’ll be leveling quickly enough that you won’t have to think about it for long.

It still boggles my mind that developers continue to roll out updates that basically say “here’s a way to play our game less”.

250%…. a LOT less.

Our players wanted to play our game less, and we listened. Well done Bioware.

DAMNIT, THOUGHT THIS STARTED TODAY BECAUSE I AM GOOD AT READING BUT NOPE, IT IS TOMORROW -_____________-

Oh well, at least I’m patched and ready to go for tomorrow, so there’s that.

Bioware: “Hey guys, please come play our game! We know we only released an expansion two months ago, and people are already done with it and want to quit out, but pleaaaaaaaaase stay around. We’ve got an EXP and CXP boost now, so you can get Command Crates even faster! That’s been the problem, is how slow it is to gear up through our RNG system, right?”

Totally not desperate for players after gutting the MMO aspects even further.

I had another month or so left of subscription time but I couldn’t really find any motivation or reason to keep playing. I haven’t even done anything beyond the Hutt Cartel, ’cause quite frankly the only thing that sounded worthwhile was playing through the story content. Which is subpar anyway due to Bioware being pretty hit/miss and TOR being an MMO to where the story content doesn’t mean a whole lot when everyone and their mother gets to be the same special snowflake.

Probably for subs.only too.

Galactic command system is horrible. The only way to gain any gear is randomly through those boxes.

This smells more like a “we are losing subs left and right and the reason given is the GC system. Let’s see what happens if we make it go faster.”

Galactic Command is the standard Bioware solution in SWTOR to the same old problems.

People like story. Let’s roll out story once per month, so people come back.
Bahh, that didn’t work… Back to the drawing board.
Ah ha. People like loot. Let’s roll out roll once per month, so people come back.
Erm… Apparently people want loot, not a slip of paper with “I.O.U. 1/10th of a bit of loot”.
AH HA. /facepalm. Of course, they’re right… So give them 2/10ths instead. Problem solved.

Note to Bioware: You shouldn’t have to provide incentives to play your game. Playing the game is supposed to be the fun bit. Not the crappy bit you put up with to get your purple pixels.

Unless games provide for such boosts to be disabled I tend to avoid playing them during such periods. Sometimes you can level too fast.

I’m glad I’m not the only oddball who doesn’t want to rush through their games.

Is this like the other event that let you skip all the side quests?

Aye, you can already level to cap on just the main story. This will just accelerate things.

God help them when it comes time to turn this off.
