WRUP: Point of order edition

109
You were hoping for a picture of Tgek'dmal, I know.

This installment of What Are You Playing will now come to order. We’d like to begin with a few points of order, starting with the most obvious one. No one – and this means no one – is allowed to park cars in Mrs. Orbison’s living room. That wall is a load-bearing one and knocking out the scaffolding is really making her angry. Also, absolutely no one is allowed to offer to “comfort her” in the bedroom following the death of her husband, especially after you run over her husband by driving your car through her wall. We’re talking about you, Eric. We all know it.

Next point of order: It turns out that sun-dried tomato pizza from down the street is actually really good, so we’ll be ordering that after all. Also, no one is allowed to taunt the werewolves after eating it. It’s got garlic, but the garlic thing is just vampires. Also, we need to stop smashing empty beer bottles against shopping carts; complaints are coming in. Last but not least, let’s not have a repeat of last week’s incident. You may now go about your normal WRUP procedures.

Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): Family’s in town. Some I wish would disappear. Some I wish would take me with them. What I want to play is Overwatch to get that really cool Rose outfit for Tracer (who I never play, partially because I don’t like most of her outfits), or maybe do my quests with a friend in Hearthstone while they’re allowing it, but honestly? It’ll probably just be passively playing Pokémon Go while praying for Chanseys and Poyrgons and Fire Emblem Heroes because it’s a snacky JRPG mobile game of a deeper series I always want to get into but fail to finish.

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): The Elder Scrolls Online, most likely! I have a couple of ideas for rerolling for the playstyle the game seems to reward instead of the one I prefer. Plus I want to get the freebie house. We’ll see!

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): I’ve still got stuff to do in Final Fantasy XIV, but most of it’s on alts rather than my main character, since she’s finished getting everything to the level cap. (And now to do it all again in four months or so.) I’m also tempted to head back into Final Fantasy XI even though I know full well that the minor changes to Red Mage don’t make it any more capable than it was beforehand.

Justin Olivetti (@Sypster, blog): I’m making great progress on my Lore-master in Lord of the Rings Online and moving into a new house in that game, so I have plenty to do there. I might be dabbling in a few other spots, including Star Wars: The Old Republic, RIFT, and WildStar based on available time and current whims. The new WildStar update looks pretty great and I’m itching to play a Medic again!

Pierre, Patron: I’m thinking about going back to The Elder Scrolls Online to see what’s changed. I really like this MMO but stopped playing for a few months; with the new housing system in place, there’s a strong appeal to exploring Tamriel again and discovering this new system that seems to be appreciated by most players. I’ll probably play a game from my Steam backlog, but I’m yet to choose which one, there are so many of them… Enjoy the weekend and your gaming sessions, MOP readers; cheers!

Your turn!

Internet is down at my place til later this week, so trying to retain sanity by playing Xenoverse 2 and finally playing MGSV. Possibly some other stuff as I keep up to date and chat with Skype friends on my phone. T.T I can’t wait to get back to regular online games.

Getting back to BDO after a break of sorts to work on my Steam Pile of Shame. Besides that some MWO, some Overwatch. Got several golden skins in Overwatch over the course of the event only from leveling/arcade. I guess that was rather lucky.

Mainly playing Overwatch and BDO. I was playing Starcraft 2’s 3rd campaign, but the game kept freezing my computer, so I’ve set it aside for now until I figure out what the problem is.

I also got in the Gwent beta, and I’ve been playing that some. It’s a pretty good recreation of the one inside The Witcher 3.

I know for sure I’ll be playing lots of WoW to get heart-shaped boxes on all my eligible characters (now anyone level 16+) so that I can hopefully loot the love rocket mount. It’s the holiday mount I want the most, but I have the worst luck at winning those. So far I have a grand total of 0. :P

Blade & Soul is also doing a Valentine’s Day event, and I need to see if non-level capped characters can even participate. If not, maybe I should spend some time leveling my summoner, if for no other reason than to be able to do future events.

The mobile game life has been strange for me as I continue to play Fire Emblem Heroes with my crappy 3 and 4 star units. I remind myself of the value of my money whenever I’m tempted to buy orbs to summon in more heroes. And I’ve resolved to make do with what I’ve got by spending my most recent freebie orbs to upgrade my castle for an EXP boost instead.

Lastly, I’ve been playing VA-11 Hall-A for some cyberpunk bartending action. So far it manages to be both thought-provoking and good for winding down. It’s probably good to play along with a drink of your own, too, since the mechanics aren’t all that hard. Luckily all the drinks are thoroughly labeled for noobs like me who know next to nothing about booze.

This weekend is all about Black Desert and Nioh. Giving BDO another try and I’m remembering why I love it so much. Though, eventually, I’m gonna give ESO another shot as well to test out housing and see which MMO I might wanna devote more time to.
Enjoying Nioh a great deal. Hated the betas, but the full game is something special.

Def enjoy nioh. Good game but lacks the refinement and simple elegance of bloodborne

This week…I did something dangerous. I experimented on a PuG in ElinStar (TERA) as a healer. Yep, you read that right. First time doing that! And not one of my randomly selected colleagues where aware of their predicament. Well…not to the end until I told them. So I am glad no one died on my watch. Must of been doing something right. o.O

This week also, WoW is starting to wear thin on me a bit…since my main objectives there have been met. Unlike some, I don’t think that’s the end of game. As I am sure many others are still enjoying themselves with Legion, with or without me. :)

And Finally, a shout out to Mr. Schlag…as his latest and brilliant Morrowind gif reminded me of this thing (see: image attached) I was working on for a client. Enjoy. :)

I’m not usually the type to enjoy healing, but healing in TERA is surprisingly enjoying for me. Especially as a mystic; then you just throw the heals on the ground and tell everyone to take care of themselves. :P

Reader

You know, playing a Mystic here I was tempted to do just that. That is, spam those healing eggs ad infinity.

Instead…I created a second bar where I place my main heal bound to the left click button. As well a second glyph spec that allowed me to heal more than one target. And spammed away.

The only thing I had to watch out for is going OOM. But there are various ways to mitigate that, including dropping the healing fairy on a boss fight. (Least I think it was a fairy. o.O)

That’s not a bad idea. While you can do the technically “blameless” route of spamming HP eggs everywhere (maybe not viable at endgame though?), TERA’s targeted healing is still more fun to me because it’s action-based rather than staring down the HP bars.

You still have to play whack the mole though. But instead, you have to be facing the target you wish to heal…as opposed to clicking on them or their avatars. :)

this one should be seen by more people.

It was a project I work on for a harm reduction outfit where I did eyeballs under various drug type duress. Hence, “drug eyeballs” as it became popularly know. And sorta became their own thing…as I’ve seen and been shown where they’re been popping up everywhere. :)

Here are some examples of such. (See: Images attached.)

WoW (vanilla priv server) – Done the human lands and now dwarf lands, so just trying to clear up some quests (especially in Gnomeragan) before maybe moving to the elf lands.

Fire Emblem Heroes – Done the Normal story mode, getting a bunch of heroes to 3-4*and not concerned with how fast I’m getting to 5*. Now I’ll be working on Hard story mode and maxing the level and abilities of my 3-4* characters.

Mobius Final Fantasy (now on Steam) – I quit a couple months ago due to them selling their ‘Tidus’ class for a high direct purchase. They since sold a couple more classes that way. But recently, they’ve altered their approach, and I at least read some news/rumor somewhere that they’ll return those other classes someday with that new approach, so lets see. I completed the first two Mako Reactors in the FFVII Remake event and I’m back into the swing of things, trying to complete Chapter 3 (of 4, the 4th in-progress) and get myself into a stronger position for content.

Mass Effect 3 – Returning to this so I can really finish up before MEA releases.

Happy birthday, Massively Overpowered!

Still sick as a dog this week with the virus; this one’s gonna last a few months, according to my doctor. Trying not be a cranky baby about that. :-(

If you feel like showing solidarity, there’s a very old Aerosmith song on YouTube (back when they did rock full time, no power ballads) called “Sick As A Dog”. It’s not really about what I’m going through, but the song always comes into my head when I’m ill. Feel free to play it loud to send support vibes — don’t forget to hold up your lighter and make the “rock horns” if you take a selfie. :-)

But seriously — here’s what I R playing …

I went in to Elder Scrolls Online to check out the new housing and ended up playing a lot.

I always forget just how much I enjoy playing ESO. Even though I’m not a “fantasy genre first” gamer, it’s definitely my favorite fantasy MMORPG, all things considered.

Should have some (hopefully) interesting One Shots for this week’s get-together over there.

I also finally managed to figure out how to set up and use the AEGIS power system in The Secret World, so I should be able to start playing the Tokyo content over there.

Johnny Pagan is another great TSW NPC character. Don’t miss him!

For those who don’t know already, the AEGIS system deals with the fact that monsters in the Tokyo sections now have “shields” in addition to hit points.

The shields are color coded by source type (demonic, psychic, cybernetic) and you have to match your AEGIS device color setting to the color of the shield type(s) in order to take down a target’s shielding, before you can attack its hit points.

While I absolutely commend FunCom for trying to be innovative, I’m not liking the AEGIS system much. It feels like a layer of unnecessary busywork added to the combat to me — and I liked the combat better the standard way.

On the upside, though, I’m playing The Secret World again, so that’s good.

Not much PlayStation 4 this week, as my games there require more reflexes than sick boy has right now. Fought the Crota boss fight in Destiny almost to the end, but got tired before I could finish. I’ll get `im next time …

Take care of yourselves, people. We’re all we’ve got out here, but we’re enough!

Cheers,

I’m 15 hours into my first ever play through of Morrowind, just arrived in Vilec. Now I know which game the phrase “wall of text” was invented for. But I love it!
