The wait for Stardew Valley’s promised multiplayer mode has been longer than most initially expected, but the good news is that it’s actually coming — and soon. PC is slated to get it first, but the surprise revealed today is which of the console editions will be next in line. Oddly enough, that honor will go to the the brand-new Nintendo Switch.

“Just to clarify: the Switch Stardew Valley multiplayer announcement DOES NOT mean that PC will get multiplayer later,” the game’s developer said on Twitter. “PC will still be first.”
Stardew Valley just celebrated its first anniversary this past weekend. The team talked about various accomplishments over the past year, including localization in additional languages and ports to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
People pointed out it says “first console” and it’s still coming to PC first, before I had a chance to nerdrage. But then again, I don’t think I know anyone who plays Stardew Valley on PC and thus shouldn’t worry about it. What I should wonder about is if slingshot gets a revamp since it’s a little wonky, and then I can literally throw rocks at other players.
I may get a switch just so I can play this on a decent mobile. Harvest Moon on the GBA SP – many good memories.
Only problem is I am sure finding someone online to play with will be nigh impossible with a Nintendo system.

Why though….
I got this game over the Christmas holiday. I just don’t get the appeal of it and got bored pretty quickly. Still I guess this is good news for those that enjoy it so um yay o/
it’s one of the longer lasting sp games for me personally. didn’t play it long nonetheless but it was a good run. i mostly bought it for me mum.
I was playing a lot of Overwatch, Total Warhammer, Battlefield 1, etc before I bought Stardew Valley. It was a good change of pace for me. There is something very satisfying about exploring the cute little world and its secrets, making friends with the locals and seeing their cutscenes, building up my farm from scratch, gradually building a bigger and better operation with more crops and animals that love me…
It’s just a good peaceful game that still gives you something to be excited about every day; an alternative to the hectic, competitive, and sometimes downright mean experience you get with a lot of multiplayer games.
Doesn’t seem that odd since it looks like a Nintendo game and it’s a great portable game.
Gotta tell you…you avatar kills me, hahaha!
I’m going to farm the shit out of some parsnips!
(The quote by Day9 on his YouTube channel that got me to buy the game.)
