Black Desert is due for a ‘full-scale graphic remastering later this year’

At GDC last week, Black Desert took center stage as the subject of a demo from Silicon Studio showing off YEBIS, its post-processing software. “I thought that Black Desert Online’s realistic graphics were suitable to demonstrate the cutting edge technology of YEBIS,” CEO Takehiko Terada wrote. “We are pleased with the response of the audience as expected, and we look forward to cooperating with Pearl Abyss in the future.”

That wasn’t just idle talk; Kakao announced this morning that Black Desert developer Pearl Abyss is indeed using YEBIS tech to buff the MMORPG’s graphics as part of a “full-scale graphic remastering.” Says PA,

“This video is only a small part of what we’re working on. We are constantly trying our best to provide users with a better visual experience in keeping with the evolution of hardware. Players will be able to venture through Black Desert with enhanced graphics later this year.”

This is going to be quite the improvement for sure! Honestly though…I can still see flat edges on my Rangers boobs and butt! Fix when!? :D

BDO has committed themselves to being the most graphically-rich MMO, and I think that’s pretty darn cool. I love when game companies raise the bar on graphics. Dare to be great. I will pay good money for awesome. I don’t want mediocre for free.

Wow, I dislike the combat to such a degree that I’ll never play this game, but I’ve always thought BDO was visually quite impressive.

I’d prefer if they did something about LOD, pop-in, general performance, the story (which might be a result of poor translation), and the ridiculous amount of RNG.

I think they have bigger problems than making their game look prettier. Pop-in, for one.
The fact that I can ride all the way through Heidel on my T6 and not see a single player or NPC load, for another. People running in T8 horse races crashing because the server can’t keep up.
Stuff like that.

Nice graphics, too bad about the UI.

Well, it’s post-processing effects so they will be toggle-able anyway. And I really hate blurs and flares, so those things get turned off immediately. And if performance tweaks come built it, all the better.

However I just profer the sharper images before the post-effects.

I’ve been playing the 7 day trial and it seems pretty enough to me already. (I just wish it wasnt so confusing & i apparently need to spend a bunch to get anywhere, or grind for 10k years).

The game is definitely very confusing when you first start out. When I started playing I thought it was a good thing they had 7-day trials because it took me at least 5 days to not be completely lost.
As for spending money, some targeted expenditures (like a pet) will be helpful. Some things you can buy with loyalty points, it will just take a bit of time. It really depends on how competitive you want to be.

I think I prefer the ones with the yebris off

I wonder how much they paid this company to do this? All they did was market the same thing that reshade, sweetfx, and gemfx have been doing for free for years.
