TERA flips on the switch to its ‘crazy’ test server, renames the Paragon to Valkyrie

What could the nutty minds behind TERA be cooking up in their kitchens? Find out for yourself, as the team has opened up a brand new test server devoted to exploring “interesting game concepts” in “the craziest of crazy test environments.”

On the Wonderholme test server, players can create new characters that will undoubtedly have short but fascinating lives. The team said that on this server, wipes will occur frequently, there will be no official support, and any money spent there is done with the understanding of no refunds. But it might all be worth it to experience the bizarro versions of TERA.

So what might one see on PTR? “The Wonderholme server features superfast leveling, massively increased reputation awards and enchanting chances (up to +12), reimagined loot tables for all levels of dungeons, triple dungeon drops and more.” Sounds good to us!

Meanwhile, the votes on the game’s Paragon class rename are in: Valkyrie won the race. You can get in there right now and claim your new Valkyrie’s name as part of the game’s name reservation system.

TERA is the Deadpool of MMO’s. It embraces the crazy and deliberately makes every effort to ensure players all-in for everything that shatters the fantasy convention will have a home. Suspension of disbelief be damned. There is fun to be had, certainly.

When they first announced they were putting up servers with different rule sets I was hoping that they may be subscription only servers without all of the p2w items they sell in the cash shop. I knew it was extremely unlikely, but I was hopeful at the time. Oh well, guess I won’t be logging on anytime soon. TERA is a great example of how a game’s cash shop can escalate over time after a game converts from p2p to f2p.
