Gather ’round for a peek at ARK’s retooled inventory UI

ARK: Survival Evolved has  a number of cool features that players like, but the UI isn’t necessarily one of them. Take heart, survivors: A change is on the way! Studio Wildcard’s Jeremy Stieglitz tweeted a peek at the revamped inventory UI, saying it has lots of new functionality, including what he says will be better organization for remote inventories. This UI also includes a streamlined character profile, but perhaps what players might appreciate the most is the fact that the window will no longer block the entire view of their screen (making it easier to notice those critters and enemies that are sneaking up on them!). Take a gander and tell us what you think of these changes!

Since I am apparently going to uninstall The Secret World (see other threads) I think it’s time I reinstalled ARK and took some ANSEL screencaps with my GTX 1080. I only recently “remembered” this feature and realized ARK supports it. I need to find a good dino valley kind of area with lots of fauna.

Ooh, thanks for reminding me. I’m a hobby photographer IRL and I’ve always wanted to relay that skill in gaming. I don’t really play much of the other ANSEL games, but forgot about ARK.

One thing that others picked up on from the sneak peak that wasn’t mentioned in the article here that is at the moment controversial is that it seems that WC intends to further restrict taming into a per level deal. In the screen shot it shows level one being allowed 2 tames as an example.

This also comes on the heels of the next update planning to introduce a nerf to flying(which everyone is wildly speculating on in various forums).

I wonder if they ever intend to do an AI pass, so the animals feel more like real animals instead of just wandering food nodes. It’s the one thing I want the most. I want to see herd behavior; diurnal and nocturnal hunting patterns; predators that hunt for food, not just attack everything in their path; distinct behavior within a species (like males fighting for pack/herd supremacy); sleeping.

I saw two triceratops gore and kill a carnotaurus that wandered down into their grazing area and attacked them. they got him from opposite sides like 2 bulls in a pasture and he fell down and bled out. That was my very first game session in ARK. I was slackjawed.

Interesting, it’s showing wind speed on the island.

This is a good sign, at least it shows the devs are attempting to ensure the game’s survival.

The transparency is a nice idea.

It’s a definite improvement. Needed transparencies and views of the world.
