WRUP: A new and largely identical frontier edition

In space, lots of people can hear you.

The fun thing about new frontiers is that anything you haven’t explored before technically qualifies as a new frontier. This week’s What Are You Playing, for example, is exploring the new frontier of 9:00 a.m. EDT. And guess what? It’s functionally more or less identical to the existing time slot we’ve always used, except that it’s a bit earlier. It’s a new frontier, but it’s also a fairly boring frontier.

Then again, that’s human beings for you. We are constantly re-indexing our experiences so each new thing we’re exposed to becomes part of the existing mental landscape we occupy. So sure, the first time you go to space, it’s all about gasping in wonder. The thousandth time, though, you find yourself going into another galaxy in cryo-stasis because now space travel is boring and everyone goes to space.

Anyhow, let us know what you’re up to this weekend in the comments. It might be new for the moment.

Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): It’s gonna be a busy weekend outdoors and on the road, so I’ll mainly only have time for Pokémon Go, though I’d like to do a bit more Overwatch for the event. I don’t really care much for any of the skins, but Blizzard made something akin to Battleborn, the hero fighter that felt superior in terms of gameplay but sadly didn’t have the player base support Overwatch got.

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): Saturday I’ve got plans out of range of the ol’ PC, but Sunday is up in the air; with Super Adventure Box over, I’m not sure whether I’ll be back into Guild Wars 2 right away or putter around elsewhere. I might try to change things up. I might have an idea for another video brewing too…

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): A bit of Final Fantasy XIV and some more Mass Effect: Andromeda, along with figuring out trading routes in Black Desert. I’ve been really down and unhappy lately, so I might mix things up a little bit in the hopes of finding some old familiar stomping grounds, like in Final Fantasy XI.

Justin Olivetti (@Sypster, blog): The new Lord of the Rings Online anniversary scavenger hunt is going to keep me busy for a long, long time… but I’m not complaining! I would also love to get some time in with my Guild Wars 2 Engineer and mop up World of Warcraft emissary quests that keep piling up on me. At least I have flying now!

MJ Guthrie (@MJ_Guthrie, blog): Gaming for me will be extremely sparse this weekend as I am out of town for a family funeral. WTB rez scroll. If I do manage some time, I will cheat and defy death as absolutely much as possible!

Your turn!
