The Stream Team: Celebrating City of Heroes with Paragon Chat costume contests

17

Never say die! If City of Heroes fans had a motto, this would likely be it. Although they don’t have the original game to play, they do have Paragon Chat to hang out together in. And in honor of the game’s anniversary, folks are gathering to pay homage to their favorite world. And Massively OP’s MJ is not going to this party alone: Bree, Eliot, and Justin are also heading in for the evening costume contests. Join us live at 9:00 p.m. to catch the gang together and maybe even show off your favorite attire!

What: City of Heroes
Who: Bree Royce, Eliot Lefebvre, Justin Olivetti, and MJ Guthrie
When: 9:00 p.m. EDT on Friday, April 28th, 2017

The show is over now, but we’ve embedded it here just for you. Don’t forget to check out past streams and playlists posted to our videos collection!

If only Square Enix would of been the developer to hold the games IP rather than NCsoft. AS can be seen with FFXI they really appreciate their fans and doubt CoH would of been closed down the way it was.

I wasn’t a CoH player myself sadly, but the game looks awesome and would have played it had I been made aware of it earlier in the games life. But I was deep into FFXI by that time.

hm…when I try to play the video, it says “Not available.” Ad once, it said “This video is private.”

Give the direct twitch link a try: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/138765972

It might still be uploading / encoding to youtube for the moment.

I logged into this event for a while, but eventually got bummed out because while it’s nice to be able to hang out in Paragon City I was still really missing the ability to take a break from socializing to go run a random police scanner mission or something.

Heh I should totally find a video of some pensioners talking about the old days and edit in the stream voices. ;-)

Um is it me or are the PC visuals crisper / sharper than what CoH had? What I saw on the stream doesn’t match my memories of what I remember seeing the few times I tried to get into the CoH.

I am on record for not understanding the appeal of CoH but it looks and sounds like you all had some fun both with the game and this stream so good for you, hope you all find something that will fill the gap eventually :-)

They did a major graphics upgrade, I wanna say in 2010 with Going Rogue. It was quite impressive, especially stacked with the (much higher-quality) costume additions they added over the last couple of years of the game. If you played before that, you wouldn’t have seen it! :D

It was issue 17 (April 2010), the last issue before Going Rogue.
Edit: Bree posted her response while I was off looking up the info on https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page

I wish people would get over their compulsive need to tell CoH players to get over it.

That works for both sides of the coin.

It is a valid view point and also one you don’t have to agree with. While I believe I understand and sympathise with why comments like that are wiped I still find silencing one side rubs me wrong just a tiny bit.

Also agemyth has made the simplest most appropriate reply for your side of it :-)

Oh, I personally wouldn’t have removed the comment. It wasn’t anything offensive or even really insulting. It was just the standard “get over it” line.

Yeah, one-liners telling people to get over it amount to trolling in context here. Serves no purpose in an anniversary stream thread but to antagonize people. It’s the qualitative equivalent of “go back to WoW” or “Star Citizen is a scam” or whatnot.

It’s still on.
