Path of Exile previews updated NPC models and adds new cosmetics to its store

That's one handsome beggar-man.
Since Path of Exile’s next major update is really heavy on story, it’s the perfect time for the team behind the game to work on updating old NPC models around the game. After all, you don’t want to be pulled out of the experience by noticing that a character model is slightly sub-par before you go laying waste to everything around you with explosions of lightning. Nessa and Tarkleigh’s models are both available for preview, with a quick glance making it rather clear which model is the new and improved version.

Of course, with all of the good work being done on The Fall of Oriath, perhaps you’re inclined to drop a little money on the game to support these kinds of huge updates. So it’s a good thing there’s new stuff to spend money on, including a wallaby pet, a swarm of bats, and a glowing red portal effect. (Glowing red portals are the best portals.) You can check out some of the video previews for these new items in the store, which should be helpful for determining how much you need a virtual wallaby.

Well, with those new models, they actually look like people. I doubt anyone will notice though, this being a top down viewed game where the typical player spends as little time as possible in towns.

I talk to Nessa just to hear her say, “UmHmh”

Argh, I wish this would release already. Is there even a date yet?

Npc plastic surgery is a thing it seems, I hope they sterilised the knives used. It would be nice if this was also pushed to player character too :-)

Not sure I would pay $15 for a wallaby pet, $12.50 for the bats or $9 for the portal but they look nice enough and good for those that like them enough to do so.

A polish on the player character models would be great. Maybe that would also prompt them to fix some annoyances, like the Duelist’s head clipping through almost every type of helmet.

Really looking forward to playing again when this update hits.

Mostly its to support a game that is actually truly F2P. I can highly recommend to buy extra inventory space but it really is not needed.

Given the amount of work the devs have done, I’m willing to pay for bats or wallabys just to support them. Look at it as, ‘Hey I like what you are doing. Sure I’ll give ya 15 dollars in support oh and I get a free wallaby!”

Oh please don’t misunderstand I was just commenting on my own opinion of those particular cosmetics, not for me but cool if you like them :-)

I have all the specialist currency stash tabs and 20 odd premium stash tabs. I also do have some cosmetic stuff mostly as a result of supporter pack purchases and the store currency that comes with those.

I actually thought of buying character slots, unbelievable as that may seem.

Heh. From a business perspective I’d say they give WAY too many free character slots. Something I’d definitely pay for except that I’m a long way from needing more.
