:| Well that is uninteresting. I was hoping we had control over the mechanic and it would be about timing. So instead of spamming your abilities you’re trying to pull off well aimed shots.
RNG is a crutch for lazy designers unable to come up with any actually good mechanic to support interesting game play.
On its best day, RNG can be used sparingly to emulate real world systems, which may be hard to simulate otherwise, in a way that makes some sort of sense. In most cases, as here, it’s just abused as a transparently lazy solution that the designer tries to pass off as “fun,” because they couldn’t think of anything else to do to make a particular aspect of the game different in a good way.

Ugh, Failcom at their best. Ruining what could be a good game. They first did it with Anarchy Online, then Age of Conan, and now The Secret World. Hopefully they will learn their lesson before they screw up Conan Exiles.
Yeah…RNG…just what I wanted when I’m out trying to kill something. Going with BalsBigBrother…going to have to stop watching and reading. I’m barely hanging on by a thread to the “try it, you may like it” sentiment.
Please someone tell me how this is better?
If anyone hasn’t figured this out yet, or has been living under a rock since TSW launch…no one developing this game or playing this game is concerned with competitive PVP, or super min/maxed end game mechanics.
So RNG doesn’t matter, you can roll the worst dice in the world and still clear content. The devs tried to add a little bit of mechanics to the game to make each weapon feel different. Some are goofy. It doesn’t matter. Now some people may find this fun, or just awful, but it’s impact to the actual game-play is minor.
Uh. I dunno what TSW you’ve been living in, but the one I remember if you didnt have a concrete idea what the hell you were doing you wouldnt make it out of the second zone alive because 99% of skills in the skill wheel are uselessor are useless outside a specific combo/

RNG heavy scenarios are literally the soloer’s nightmare. It’s the difference between a critical hit to finish the mob, and you getting a crushing blow.
It also completely fucks up pvp, to a point where not even casual pvp is fun because of how lucky you can get.
They coulda literally made you get something like “Every sixth shot will have increased damage”.
(chuckle) So they’re gonna double down on stupid by adding RNG mechanics into the pistol game mechanics. Nicely played Funcom. Sheesh.
Don’t worry, there are more steps left to climb on the stupidity ladder. ?
