Yeeeeet yooooou persiiiiiiist

Amazon Game Studios continues to lure talented developers away for its new multiplayer projects. Sebastian Strzalkowski became the latest to defect to the new studio, saying that he is joining the San Diego team after 13 years of work at SOE and Daybreak.

Strzalkowski’s portfolio covers a wide swath of Daybreak projects, including being art director for H1Z1 and having worked on Free Realms, EverQuest Next, and Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures.

“Grateful for 13 rewarding yrs at SOE/Daybreak, honored to work with such talented folks,” Strzalkowski posted on Twitter. “Starting new job @AMZNGameStudios later this month!”

Maybe they should buy the rights to EQnext? (and the Agency…)

Ugh, I wish they’d go after people who work for companies that gamers actually like.

As long as he does his job good, he could have worked for the devil and i wouldnt care.

Sure as long as it’s the art director and not say the head of monetization.

agemyth 😩

Well, I hope how ugly H1Z1 is has more to do with the technical limitations than his direction :P

Free Realms and EQN were gorgeous.

H1Z1 uses the same engine as FR and EQN did. Forgelight.

Also Clone Wars Adventures and Planetside 2.

PS2 looks better and seems like similar but more complicated game than H1Z1. PS2 is not pretty, artistically, but it doesn’t hurt my eyes just looking at it.

Maybe that is an example of a studio’s transition from AAA backed game developer/publisher to B-tier asset it some investment company’s portfolio. :P

I keep forgetting Planetside 2 is still even a thing. Has it been thrown into maintenance mode or are they actually still updating it?

Perhaps it had more to do with it’s being an apocalyptic zombie survival game? Never played it just jumping to a wild conclusion.

Also was largely just copying DayZ.
Now also copying Battle Royale, which is also an ARMA mod (and now the creator of that mod is the one behind Playerunknown’s Battelgrounds).
Back when Smed was still around they were actually talking about doing a rip of the Life roleplay-centric mod too, lul…
