Guild Wars 2 has begun testing a 64-bit Mac client

Mac users are about to come into their own in Guild Wars 2. ArenaNet announced yesterday that it is finally ready to start testing out the 64-bit Mac client. Players are being asked to download the client to help test it out for the eventual release.

“Our hope is that this 64-bit client offers a better user experience without the use of a wrapper around the Windows client,” the studio said.

Testers are highly encouraged to send in bug reports for everything they encounter to make the final product as solid as possible.

so let see if we get this, the 32bit version never worked properly lets make a wrap a 64bits now.
Instead of using Cider to wrap up the exec and port it to mac, why not allocate the money that is being used in resource that are making the gem store skins(there are enough already) and do a native client? takes time and money? yes it does, but at least you will have a solid client not a shitty shit like that port

It’s not running in a wrapper. It’s running natively according to their programmer on the forums.

The 32bit did, if that’s the case let me boot up my mac and see :D thanks for the info btw

But here is the twist, GW2 is coded for DirectX, and i didnt saw anything saying they changed that which makes me septic to the “native” thing – dont they added OpenGL nor even Vulcan Support

got the file, can see how they did compiled with Umbra 3D – this the way to go – native.
The 32 bit was a real trash, the hit on performance from Cider translating DX9 calls was a to heavy to make the game playable at times.

Nice to see this

this is probably because apple is forcing all osx apps to be 64bits soon. arena net would either have to adapt to that change or discontinue osx support.

That seems like an Apple thing to do.

32bit is outdated. Nothing wrong with this.
