Daybreak Game Company holds job fair, appetizers presumably delicious

Next month, big things are happening over at DaybreakDaybreak is holding a job fair in which the studio will seek potential candidates for hire.

While the games and projects related to these positions haven’t been made public, we do know that Daybreak was looking for software engineers, software architects, programmers, game designers, UI designers and programmers, artists, a marketing analytics manager, project managers, project producers, and QA engineers. Also, and we cannot stress this enough, there will be delicious appetizers.

Speculation time! Is Daybreak gearing up for a new big project or is the studio attempting to fill in the gaps of its staff after losing team members to the likes of Intrepid Studios and Amazon Game Studios?

In other words, they’re stocking up on low-tier noobs fresh out of “game school”. Noone of any note would even consider a job at D-BaG.

In order to save money and time, the free delicious appetizers will be purchased from a restaurant down the street and not yet baked. DayBreak plans to bake them back at headquarters. They’ll get them back to HQ, realize that they don’t know how to bake that well, serve them up to the prospects anyway woefully under cooked and put a buy to eat fee on them as well to try to re-coup some of the money wasted before throwing the rest in the trash.

OMG that’s hilarious and probably also somewhat true!

They are shopping for talent on the street because most people in the business avoids them like the plague.

Funny story about the appetizers, the original plan was to serve a delicious three bean salad, but the bean shipment got cancelled after the chef already started so all that was left to eat was a bowl of vinegar.

I was bemused but in no way surprised that when you go to
https://www.daybreakgames.com/careers

At the top it says “Showing 45 of 45 Jobs” and then lists 44 jobs.

I honestly don’t think anything they do will work anymore. They’ve aboslutely destroyed EQ as a franchise and made every poor choice a company can. While I would hate for people to be out of work, I just want them to end so that Columbus Novis sells off their IP’s to people that deserve and can do better with them.

I highly doubt Columbus Novis would sell their IP off. Assuming they close down Daybreak, they can pick a very high valuation of Daybreak and use it for a nice tax offset.

Would love to know their price to sell off Landmark/EQN.

I feel like a kickstarter/investor thing could get that project going again. I’m probably beating a dead horse though.

Daybreak exec’s finally realized that a game company can’t make money without new games and you can’t make games without those pesky developers?

Also copying ARMA III mods only gets you so far.

(Given PUBG is steadily rising up to beat out H1Z1 and is actually doing new things since it’s from the original Battle Royale devs that H1Z1 ripped for its King of the Kill mode.)
