Bless Online is being heavily overhauled by Neowiz before coming west

Back in June, Neowiz and Aeria Games/Gamigo confirmed that they’d mutually ended their partnership to make Aeria the western Bless Online publisher. While initially the studios stated the MMO had been canceled for our region and wasn’t coming westward at all thanks to “quality standards” and “technical difficulties [that] cannot be overcome,” Neowiz quickly moved to suggest that it would be publishing the game here in the west on its own, presumably with the combat system do-over Aeria had begun and Neowiz said it was continuing.

Now we have a better idea of just what that means.

Yesterday Neowiz announced what it’s calling the “Rebuild Project” for the whole game, which will allow the studio to “abandon the current structure and make it from scratch,” gutting some of the game’s underlying systems and content and adding new. Specifically, Neowiz says it’s making gear feel more important to character progression, revamping combat, retooling class skills and unique feel, creating variety and fun for mounts and pet content, adjusting crafting to not be “useless,” and improving the UI experience. New PvP content (a capture-the-flag map?) is also under development for August; the screenshots in this post show the new area.

The whole shebang is going to require a lot more testing, as you might expect, and we’re presuming that the version that eventually arrives in the west will look a lot like this revamped one for the east.

“More details will be released on July 25th,” says the studio.

It is as if it will be a realm reborn.

Didn’t they do this twice already? How much funding have they used for this game?

Great, this game has no real cashshop Korea. So that is not an issue. I am glad they are taking time to develop this game. It has good systems but needs more content and adjustments.

Yowza, after launching in multiple markets they’re pulling it down for a total overhaul? I mean, it doesn’t look good for them but I have to commend them/give them credit for sticking with it rather than cutting and running or simply trying to hold the game together with band-aids and duct tape.

Hopefully the overhaul goes smoothly and the re-released version is good, I really do want to give it a go at some point.

They said this is the most expensive korean mmo at like 50 million. Thats not really that much. Make you think they should be making alot more attempts at other mmos in the west.
Game looks like shaiya online, lineage 2 and aion except the skill system is way more simplified like shaiya online. graphics are also not much better then shaiya online either. The character are clunky and have very low fluid framerate movement sideways.
The only new thing is you can dash and mage combat looks utterly slow. and cleric and tank skills still look way more useful in aion

sounds like a whole lot of effort for a project that should be refered to as vaporware aka 2019 soonest

How is it vaporware? There is already a game, it’s even as good as finished. Do you know what vaporware means?

Maybe Aeria / Gamigo will be interested again now then :D

*Edit – This rebuild is showing us that they were right. The game was basically trash and needed to be totally rebuilt practically from the ground up. Aeria and Gamigo don’t have overly high standards, so if something is below what they’d accept to publish (no offense to them or anything) but that really does mean it’s absolute garbage.

Now they’re mostly redoing the entire game, maybe Aeria / Gamigo will like the new build and be back in. Neowiz no longer has their own English game portal, so they’d have to build up a new website and system and all to do this on their own. Normally they’re just a developer in English countries now. I guess we’ll see but it’s possible Aeria / Gamigo will be back in now.

Why would Neowiz *want* an association with Aeria/Gamigo? They are currently free from the tainted partnership they had before so why would they be interested in going back? Most of Aeria’s stuff has been pure crap or (at best) bland.

And no OWPVP right?

Right?

Did it have that in it to begin with? I don’t mind the option, as in server rules. One server has it and another doesn’t. But it seems that type of server rule thing no longer exists, it’s either all one way or all the other now.

I really am not a fan of Open World PvP. It doesn’t add anything to the game for me. It’s a very rare thing that I get attacked by someone my own level (unless they think I’m afk). 99% of the time it’s someone way overpowered above me ganking me. And it’s just a waste of time if there is absolutely no way to win the fight because they’re so much higher.

I want them to design a great experience without relying on other people to make it dangerous or more exciting (which as mentioned, it rarely does anyway – what’s “exciting” about someone twice your level ganking you?).

Anyway I don’t know if the game originally had this, or you’re just asking if this is part of the game :D

My recollection was that it was so OWPVP you could be trying to sell stuff to an in-town merchant and get ganked. At least it is what I remember from a Steparu video. I also remember an awful mass fight with a world boss which had poorly telegraphed attacks resulting in just random death.

I won’t touch it with OWPVP of any type personally which is sad cause I think their Panthera race are absolutely gorgeous.

Bless is an open world PvP gankfest, yes.
Also one of those enchantment grinders with RNG bullshit and cash shop shortcuts.

I mean, outside of looking good, this is shitty Korean clone number one million and a half, minus the now ubiquitous action combat.
The game was dead in beta in Korea. So there wasn’t much PvP in the end!
