World of Warcraft unlocks third wing of Tomb of Sargeras on raid finder

You just know that whenever another MMO is attempting to have a bright and bold day full of announcement joy, Blizzard is compelled to come along and slap you until your attention turns back to its games. So forget everything else that’s going on today and revel in the fact that World of Warcraft’s third wing of Tomb of Sargeras, Chamber of the Avatar, is now unlocked on the raid finder. That’s a lot of green!

Over on the patchy side of the game, the dev team hotfixed several class tuning changes for PvP and PvE. The big winners of the buffing roulette are Frost Death Knights, Protection Paladins, and Retribution Paladins. The team also decreased the health of Kil’jaeden and the Fallen Avatar in the new raid to help players clear mythic difficulty.

Paladin players: “We literally don’t have enough health to endure KJ’s autoattacks when our cooldowns expire.”

Blizzard Devs: “Paladin tanks now deal 4% more damage!”

1 quest per week (campaign quests), Raid finder that fully unlocks in 2+ months… this is how subscription games have become? All the bright developer minds have came up with that idea to sustain the subscription numbers? (no wonder why they dont report subs anymore…)

**Alt – tab back to FFXIV

You’re free to do normal, heroic and mythic if you don’t want to wait. The campaign quest thing was badly done and they’ve admitted to that but that’s done and over with.

So yea go ahead and tab back in FF14 to queue for 1 of 3 max level dungeons that you’ll just mass pull and AoE down (or one of the other roulettes for older content that’s been ran to death) to grind tomes and do a 4 boss raid that consists of a hallway and a circular boss room 4 times in a row with a godawful loot system. The subs comment I’m not sure what to make of. Square doesn’t report numbers either and the game has far less subs than WoW and honestly only owes its popularity to the fact that its Final Fantasy. Only Square would get praised for releasing an expansion that’s the same exact thing as the last with zero new systems.

I was queing for 3 dungeons in WotLK (ICC dungeons) and had great fun progressing my characters (and as everyone admitts it was the best expansion).

Run Normal/Heroic/Mythic in wow for what? for trash loot and a small chance to get an upgrade? In FFXIV I run the dungeons, I collect my Tomes (Valor / Justice) and I buy the gear to progress my character.

And like in WotLK, in FFXIV the dungeon player does not have a huge ilvl difference from the hardcore raider… and dungeons are not timed runs… So yes, I will alt-tab to FFXIV to play my “WotLK” MMO model that I like.

Comparing Stormblood to WotLK hahahahahahahaha. I can’t take anything you say seriously. And yes I know all about rose colored glasses for WotLK and TBC.

Reading and understanding is difficult right? I didnt compare the whole games, just the character progression through dungeons by using a currency and the fact that raid gear was not miles ahead of dungeon gear…

But I wouldnt expect any better from current wow players to be honest, I am not surprised… and I am off, last comment, no point of further discussion

oh btw, and the fact that wow articles have fewer comments than the worst indie wanna be MMO say something.. just compare to FFXIV articles or wow legacy server articles… haha..

Basing things on article reply numbers on a small website? Really? Lol Ever stop to think many WoW players use MMOC, Wowhead, or reddit? FF14 is the one with no big dedicated fansites.

Also the last comment remark and continued shit talking is about what I’d expect from a child that wants things handed to him. So go ahead enjoy Heavensward 2.0 I’m sure you’ll be bored in about 4 months since I have a feeling you’re someone that just started playing FF14 in the last 6 months and are caught up in the newness. For me I’ll personally just keep playing both games and be able to see flaws in both.

I wouldn’t be so sure.
FF14 official site popularity: https://www.similarweb.com/website/finalfantasyxiv.com – 24M
Battle.net popularity: https://www.similarweb.com/website/battle.net#overview – 96M

But Battle.net hosts not only WoW but all other Blizzard games. So i wonder if WoW is already on par with FF14 in terms of active players

Website popularity has nothing to do with sub numbers. WoW also has MMO-C (22m), WoWHead (48m), Reddit and other fansites that are more popular per region/game as many players (the fraction of the playerbase that even posts on websites) try to avoid the official forums. WoW is most likely hovering around 5-6 million subs and FF14 around ~800,000 (still a decent number compared to other MMO’s) but we’ll get a somewhat better number once https://ffxivcensus.com/ updates their stats. FF14’s numbers may lower back to that pre expansion level once the expansion hype fully dies down or stay up if the first patch comes soon enough/is satisfactory. Hard to get a number for WoW due to the way WoW is with alts and realmpop.com is the only armory scrubber and there’s option in-game for some level of privacy by not linking achievements across characters on the armory.
