Overwatch brings back the summer games with competitive Lucioball

After all of that Doomfist drama, it’s good to see the colorful and crazy summer games return to Overwatch.

The big addition this year is a new Sydney studio for Lucioball. The popular game is getting some tweaks, and players will be able to engage in competitive ranked play while booping that ball during a three-week season.

Blizzard said that the games are coming “soon” and that the skins from last year’s event will be coming back. Some characters, such as Junkrat and Mercy, will be getting new skins. Both the new and old skins will be unlockable via credits, with old skins getting a discount.

The team said that it has “drastically reduced” the chance of getting duplicates in lootboxes, starting with the summer games but rolling out to the rest of the game.
