Today’s Dark and Light update nerfs resource respawn and friendly fire

Snail Games’ early access MMO Dark and Light is patching up today. The studio says it’s fixing the action sync issues, buffing crop fertilizer, nuking spell lag, nerfed resource respawn, added proper resistances to mobs, lowered friendly fire, and improved the UI. “We’ve also adjusted the eating animation for female characters,” Snail says. “Don’t be shy about chowing down!”

Meanwhile, if you’re still a bit lost on the basics of the MMO-turned-survival-sandbox — and we’d forgive you, given how old the game technically is! — take a peek at two video’s Snail’s put out since launch. The first covers the basic building blocks of construction in the game (there’s, um, kind of a lot of hacking at trees), while the second shows off the game’s harvesting system (ditto, plus ore). Hope you like trees!

They could at least make the animations look a little like how a human being might actually chop down a tree.

Bree, today Snail Games is only fixing few bugs in DnL. This what you wrote in article is for “our upcoming big patch” :D

How about fixing the 20 minute loading screen?

Mine is no more than 3-5 mins and I get in on first try, but I have seen some who have to try multiple times.

Anyone play this? How is it?

I haven’t played for a few days but I was finding the constant need to feed the meters and the fast rate at which food and focus items spoiled made the game tedious to play.

it is tedious at first but once you tame a decent creature getting food is almost too easy, and water isn’t hard at all.

This game is basically (and to some extent literally) ARK only there is a much more limited set of items, but a slightly more complicated leveling system. Instead of guns it has a variety (fairly small) spells.

The map is quite large and there are probably 20-30ish different creatures including griffins, wyverns, wolves & stuff. There’s also a few NPCs you can interact with in the 3 towns (Human, Dwarf, Elf) – can sell things and pay them tribute to eventually offer various goods so that you don’t need to craft them.

Pretty much dead on except I would add that I think this game has a more robust crafting system with much more to offer in the future.

Mods will help with some of this and to expand the game in many directions.
