The Stream Team: A Jackal assassination in Warframe

5
As much as Massively OP’s MJ wants to complete all the missions on Venus, she heard that there’s a pet to be had on Mercury — a cuddly kubrow pup! That means she’s eager to finish up the requirements for the Mercury Junction, other missions be darned! All she has left to do is defeat Jackal at Fossa, so an assassination is in order. Join us live at 9:00 p.m. as MJ offs everything standing in the way of getting her puppy.

What: Warframe

When: 9:00 p.m. EDT on Monday, August 14th, 2017

I’ve died many times on solo survival missions when getting so carried away fighting that I forgot to pay attention to life support… but not nearly as many times as I did when first trying to solo the Jackal!

I remember getting my first Kubrow long before reaching Saturn, but that did require getting lucky with resources from daily login rewards & Alerts. Alternatively you can buy the item required on the market for 35 platinum if you have any of your starting plat left? What did annoy me was how much RNG is involved in trying to get a kubrow egg from their nests.

Scanning enemies (like you did the Jackal) enough times adds information to the Codex on your ship, telling you about their strengths & weaknesses & drops.

My first run at the Jackal mission was solo and, like MJ, I thought I’d need to damage the boss with those bombs things. Took me waaay too long to see that each leg had its own health bar.

For the kubrow, I managed to get an egg in only 2 tries. I don’t usually have RNG luck in games, so maybe that was one of the rare times I did. :)

To get the kubrow pet, you actually need to breed it, starting with its egg and you need to craft an item for it that requires components dropping on Saturn, Neptune or Eris, plus a rare resource dropping in the Void. There’s still quite a bit left after Mercury before you get your pet.

I learned that only after getting the egg. The game makes you think you can get a kubrow, but it looks like that egg will be sitting on my ship for a while before I’ll have all the components needed.
