Guild Wars 2 deep-dives Path of Fire’s elite specs for every class

ArenaNet has a new dev vlog out today focusing on the development of Guild Wars 2’s Path of Fire elite specs. Some of the class specs were born from a great name and concept, the studio says, like the Mesmer’s Mirage, whereas others were put together via a systematic review of game mechanics and consideration for what each class is currently lacking, like the Necromancer’s new support skills.

ArenaNet announced yesterday that it’ll be announcing even more (heh) about the elite specs throughout the week; expect the team’s livestream on Thursday ahead of the PvP preview weekend this Friday, then mount details on August 28th and story info coming at the beginning of September. In the meantime, the dev diary and the older elite spec videos roundup are down below.

I really love the Mesmer sounds. So cool.

I’m really looking forward to this weekend’s elite spec preview so I can figure out which class I want to play through PoF first.

Caved, jumped back into game. I need to honor my tradition of starting a new frickin’ toon every time I come back (CRY FOR HELP), but am struggling. I have never played a Necro, Mesmer, Guardian, or Revenant. I like tanky, ranged, condition builds. So it’s pretty much Necro or bust, I’m guessing!

All of those except mesmer are good choices now, and all 4 PoF elite specs for those classes will cover at least some of that territory.

Not really, Condibuilds are pretty tanky given their stats.

I’m so hyped about this expansion!

All new specializations look amazing, new world bosses look amazing. Hoping for challenging open world boss fights, where people have to cooperate to win, like tri-headed wurm or tequatl.

The more I learn about Soulbeast, the more excited I get.

in addition to the native quickness gained from Mantra of Potence.

Only took 2 expansions for guardians to get a passive move speed bonus.

The blurb about firebrand is eh. Still not super hype, but I’ll give it a fair shake this weekend.

You’re thinking of Swiftness. Quickness buffs your attack and action skill speeds.

Bah, that’s way less exciting then. It’s what I get for being a mega casual/out of the loop for so long with the game : (

WTB passive speed boost like most other professions have!

The raptor mount is faster than Swiftness, so it’s going to be a huge boon (heh) to open map builds since you wont need to trait for movement speed now.
