Secret World Legends devs talk next week’s patch and beyond

With some wind at its back thanks to a launch that exceeded studio expectations, Secret World Legends and its development team dare not slow down for fear of losing this much-needed momentum. In this week’s dev stream, the team discussed many of the projects that it’s working on for the near and far future.

Lair megabosses and the NYC raid are scheduled to arrive in next week’s patch, as is an emote window for those who haven’t memorized every slash command. Hopefully coming with the patch? “A build manager is an integral part of SWL and we’re hard at work on making it happen ASAP. We really hope we can squeeze it in for this coming update, but if it doesn’t pass QA then it’ll be in shortly after.”

Looking past that update, Funcom has a lot in the works including the remainder of Tokyo (including a few “missing” missions) and the second season of the game. The studio is still tight-lipped about season two except to say that everyone on the team is very excited about it.

Legacy transfers and Funcom Points to Aurum conversions will wrap up on September 4th, so get on that if you want to bring any of that over from The Secret World. A second round of legacy transfers will take place later this month.

I’m cautiously optimistic, but gonna wait till season 2 to see if the game starts getting some actual and substantial NEW new content. :)

I honestly can’t stop playing this one, just ran 6 E4’s in a row, quality runs, what a feeling. This is what a great Cabal, with amazing players will get ya, no life.

Don’t squeeze the build manager in unless it’s fully baked. I think most of us remember how long it took them to get that right in TSW.

Now, not having Sprint cancel every time you enter combat or perform an action . . . that would be quick and huge value add

Why wait for Funcom when you can have all that right now?

So the Co-op version of the mmorpgs TSW is still milking old content and calling it new? ;>

It’s not old content if it’s new to you.
I’m super pumped, the whole Cabal is actually and a large percentage of the Cabal are TSW vets.

Which once again makes the point that SWL wasn’t designed for those who played TSW already. It wasn’t a reward to those veteran players, it was a piss off you, we’ve already got money from you we don’t reward those who continued to spend money and play our mmorpg.

Though hey, glad it’s all new to you because you are all that matters to all of us. :)

If that’s what you think.

I understand why some TSW vets have a problem with the SWL, but the rejigged combat has gotten me – a guy with over a hundred hours in TSW – back into the game (as the streamlined skills mean I can now play it using a controller on my couch via a third party programme) and one of my friends, who could never defeat the Soloman Island boss, has finally gotten to Egypt thanks to SWL helping him build a character that worked and ensuring he finally understood crafting, and has already given Funcom some money for keys.

What’s the deal with the 2nd round of transfers? Is it for transferring stuff from a second The Secret World character?

Reader

The second round is primarily there for people who are frustrated with Funcom’s decision to not allow Funcom points bought before a certain time, to convert to Aurum in SWL. Instead, Funcom is allowing players who have already transferred from TSW before September 4th (so yes you have to do that even just to do it), to do it again later in September. This will give players who already transferred, the chance to spend their remaining TSW Funcom Points on things that will get to transfer to SWL. Its a ‘clearing out’, since Funcom refuses to convert those Points.

2nd chance to get it right and spend any points on items if you never plan to return to TSW.
Myself for example, never thought i’d spend over a week in SWL and move on, only wanted to check it out. So i didn’t read anything, just clicked transfer without ever logging into TSW first to get things ready for the transfer, didn’t care.
Needless to say i regret it now. So this gives you a chance to log in get all your items ready and spend any last points you have on items for transfer. Same as the first but this is cosmetic only. The first one will only unlock all your weps, and other bonuses associated with the first transfer.

Good guide here on how to transfer and a direct link to TSW installer which some may find useful.

They have been excited about season 2 a couple of years now. I’ve heard that if you’re excited for that long, it can cause permanent damage.

Its taking longer and longer to find people for dungeons. Yea its definitely cause its not slowly dying that they are adding updates.

Reader

That’s odd. The Steam Charts show a very small drop in players since the relaunch and make it seem as though the game is retaining the majority of its new playerbase.

I suspect a lot of people are finding cabals and doing content with them. I’ve noticed the dungeon queues are taking longer, but there seem to be roughly the same number of people setting up lair runs, so I’m inclined to agree that the playerbase probably isn’t shrinking in any unusual fashion.

Been in a Cabal since the start, i forget there is an outside player base at times. The Cabal just keeps on growing so doubt there is player shortage.
