Blizzard is hiring for a production director for the Diablo franchise

Remember last week’s announcement that there would be no news for Diablo III or any other part of the Diablo franchise at this year’s BlizzCon? It remains to be seen when that will change, but something is definitely shifting with Blizzard’s latest hiring position. The developer is searching for a new Production Director for the Diablo franchise as a whole, helping to bring the games into the ambiguous future.

The ideal candidate listed will have experience with online gams, as well, which raises all sorts of questions. Is it something for a new expansion? A new title? An overhaul of Diablo III into a new service? It’s all impossible to say, but it should at least help mollify fans who see the franchise as being largely abandoned. And hey, if you’ve got the production experience and you’re a fan, this could be good for you on multiple levels.

I’ve always wanted a Diablo MMO. There’s so much more to that universe than just the Prime Evils.

I doubt this is what that is, but I can dream.

I think I’m officially done being surprised why people are perpetually fooled into the self induced “hype-letdown” cycle when we have people/news literally combing job postings for game titles at major companies.

LOL, I see this as “news” on 2nd MMORPG portal today, while it’s at least half year old open job position. Are all those sites have one source of information, instead of doing research by themselves?

Gaming journalism is not what it used to be and usually MOP is usually always behind on news compared to other sites

In the up-right corner, there is a “tips” link, use it to send “news” to the editors, they can’t be everywhere all the time.

Sure, but I think they should verify if it’s actually something new, or known for a long time already. And on both portals, it’s mentioned as “latest hiring position” or “new job position”.

Sorry, but I could not resist commenting on

experience with online gams,

Perhaps it will be a change of pace to see more focus on the legs rather than the … chests.

If you think there is anything a game company can do to “”mollify fans” or at least the fans who frequent sites/social media, then IMO you don’t know the “fans.”

I could really imagine diablo 4 as an open world, sandbox-ish PvP game between angels, demons and nephalem. Like a really big, constant MOBA with item findings and such.

Oh, so they’re not making any announcements at Blizzcon, they’re making them BEFORE Blizzcon.

Something like half of a year before BlizzCon to be specific, as it’s not a new open job position at all.
