Grab a Total War: ARENA closed beta key from Wargaming and MOP

At the tail end of last year, Wargaming’s then-new publishing label, Wargaming Alliance, announced it was picking up SEGA’s Total War: ARENA, a “free-to-play, real time tactical strategy game featuring epic scale 10v10 multiplayer battles led by historical commanders from the past.” In fact, you’ll recall that we spoke to the studio about at E3, where we discussed its historical roots and what MMO players might appreciate in it.

While you could grab a founder pack to play right now, you might prefer to check it out while it’s in testing first, and that’s where the current closed beta test — and the beta keys Wargaming has kindly granted us for our readers — come in! This leg of the closed beta runs until October 20th and is open for accounts in North America only. Click the Mo button below (and prove you’re not a robot) to grab one of these keys!

No keys left! Sorry.

Here’s how to redeem your code: Once you have created/logged into a Wargaming account, click on your name on the top left of the screen to access your profile. At the bottom of the dropdown, click “Activate Wargaming Code” to copy/paste the beta key then hit redeem. From there you will have access to the installer and the game will begin to download.

Standard giveaway notes: If there’s no captcha or Mo button and all it says is “No keys left! Sorry” in big letters, then we’re out of keys. If we get another batch from the studio, we’ll send out a note on social media. Having problems with the captcha not working? Try an alt browser or clear your cache. And finally, hang on to your code! If you lose it after all of our keys are given out, we cannot retrieve it for you.

Good luck and have fun!

Worst game I’ve played in recent history, this one is doomed to the garbage bin.

I dunno about Total War Arena or the fact it has Wargaming attached to it but I absolutely adore Total War Warhammer 2 released recently. There’s so many small and great improvements over the first one it’s been a blast. Not a huge fan of the Vortex but really looking forward to Mortal Empires that’s going to have a map that combines the maps of the first and second game and lets you access all the races you own.

I will say after trying some Multiplayer campaign in TWW, it is neat to have micro’d team strategy like this. Like you can have one guy micro the front line while another guy micros the calvary while another handles the artillery or ranged etc. Pretty solid idea and works really well.

Everybody grab a key and come on in. More the merrier. Been in the CB a few weeks now and it’s a blast. Very unique gameplay and easy to pick up. You control three “companies” of approximately 100 men each, as do the other nine players on your team. You can mix and match infantry, cavalry, archers, even siege engines. If you like maneuver and tactics, you’ll love it. Progression is similar to Wargaming’s World of [vehicle] games, with separate advancement and tech trees for commanders and units.
