Even had this week not contained BlizzCon — which itself was meaty, and yes we’re getting both a World of Warcraft expansion and WoW vanilla/legacy/classic servers — it would have been a big one for the MMORPG genre, as EVE Online company CCP laid off dozens of employees and shutter substudios, PWE closed down both Gigantic studio Motiga and Torchlight developer Runic Games, and Marvel Heroes studio Gazillion fell silent in the midst of “inappropriate conduct” allegations and missed patches.

We’ll have more on all these stories in the coming week, but for now, read on for the very best of this past week’s MMO news and opinions.

Your developer creates a game in September – shut ’em down in November.

Hey kids! Who wants to enter the exciting world of game development?!?

Apparently a lot of them as they keep showing up. Oh to be young and naive, heh.

Games are changing to kiddie themed FPS with perks and BTW. Call of Shitface etc. Gaming industry done for now as far as I am concerned, apart from the odd indie we can look forward to, before they are bought out, closed and scattered to the four winds. Bad days for gaming. Certainly not as good as when I was growing up, Even the first two Call of Shitface were good. No more. Slavery kiddie console players demand dumbed down games with perks and buy to win.

whatever the news is hope you and yours are okay.

I’m trying to be happy today – because of the church shooting yesterday. It’s so depressing I don’t know what else to do but stick my fingers in my ears, try to be happy before I get murdered myself. I don’t want to die angry.

Yea the world is not in great shape at the moment. That shooting was heinous. I hope those people left behind can find some peace.
