My FFXI account is long gone, back then it was confusing as heck to even get a playable account, with the many accounts you needed to even get into the game, in the end i could never get into the game, which was the one reason i never got to play the game in the end. Same thing happend to my FFXIV 1.0 account, had to restart from scratch once 2.0 came around sadly.

Also lost my old LOTRO account when the whole Codemasters thing happend.

Ive also had both my WoW account and Neverwinter accounts hacked once, WoW wasn’t all that bad, i was “banned” for RTM activites (which is how alot of hacked accounts are used) but managed to get it back again, and managed to get most of my characters\inventory restored.

Sadly for my Neverwinter acc i only got a “compensation” for my lost stuff, which kinda put me of playing it as hardcore as i used too, and has made me even more vary to spend cash on it since i already lost all the real money i had spent on the account when it got hacked.

Personally I have never lost an account…

Although I do remember when City of Heroes changed from a username/password to email address/password (this was *by default* the email address on your NCsoft master account), that there were quite a few people who complained that they could no longer remember *which* email address they used, nor the answers to their security questions (because they put down “wrong answers” to questions).

This, if anything, prompted me to double check and write down details before I did forget any of them.

Also helped that at the start I used a common password for all my games (now they are all unique/2FA where possible)

Yup. Couldn’t log into FFXI again if I tried…..and I tried…..

Thankfully, no. When the whole Cryptic-to-PWE forced account conversion fiasco was going on, I lost access to 2 of my accounts and that had to be resolved by their CS (which was an absolutely awful experience – I have ranted about it at length). It was nothing to do with me and everything to do with their automatic account connecting thingy failing for those two accounts. That was stressful enough.

I’m very… protective of my game accounts >.> Have never given account or login details to anyone else. Even seeing a GM log in one of my characters weirds me out.

I would say I have ever lost my account info, but my accounts definitely got screwed up with WAR.

I am EU based and WAR was originally published by a company called GOA, so my account was with them. When EA sacked GOA and took over EU publishing, they made a real mess of accounts. EA was in the process of merging all their accounts into one, so the addition of my GOA account just screwed things up. My email address stayed the same, but they decided to use a password from one of my EA accounts and forced me to use an account name they assigned to me.

What was worse is that all the various different systems used different protocols. Some EA websites wanted me to login with my email address, some with my username. Some were still stuck using old databases, so my passwords ended up being different in different parts of EA. I was forever having to login again as I browsed through the backend of EA’s systems.

Luckily for me, I have long since stopped playing EA games

I’m pretty sure there is an ESO account lingering out there from when I signed up in beta with a different email address; which I can’t access any longer and don’t even recall exactly what the address was. Fortunately when I decided to start playing after launch and had to sign up again with a different address I didn’t lose anything more than a long gone beta character that I’m sure was wiped anyway.

I think that’s the only game account I’ve ever permanently lost access to; although, forgetting being what it is, maybe I’ve lost others and forgot that I forgot about them.

YES! Not only lost it, but no longer had access to the old email account that it was tied to and forgot the passwords. Not a good combination.

GW1 was a nightmare for me. I tried so hard to get it back and costumer service kept just trying to get me to buy the game again, I had all the expansions for it too. The only info i could give them was my name and old address and it wasn’t good enough. I didn’t even have the old email address.

Yeah…I have a whole library of MMO’s I don’t use anymore. And I doubt my accounts attached would even register if I decided one day to log on. Thusly, in the MMO world, one does not merely get back on the IP’s horse after a long period of absenteeism and expect it to be all welcoming and “Happy to see you!” It’s more I am met with a “Who!?” and then bucked off unceremoniously into the nearest thorn covered hedgerow. :(

My WoW account. The characters still exist in the server, but when they switched to Battle.Net, something broke and I could not log in anymore. Gave up on it.
