“To participate, complete a random dungeon via the Dungeon Finder (Normal or Veteran) to earn a Mysterious Reward Box. (You can obtain one Mysterious Reward Box per character per day.) Mysterious Reward Boxes contain a variety of in-game rewards, such as Dye Stamps, Crown Repair Kits, or Crown Mimic Stones. They also contain rarer rewards, ranging from in-game valuables like Treasure Maps, Transmute Crystals, or Crown Experience Scrolls – or, rarely, a Costume, Pet, or even a Mount from a curated selection of both past and brand-new Crown Store collectibles.”
Some players will even be gifted huge bundles of items, including “a pack of 20 homes or 20 mounts” worth quite a bit of cash. Of course, you still have to hit the LFG button, dungeon it up, and kill all the bosses to be eligible. How hard can it possibly be?

what’s this? I can’t delete my own post?
If only ESO dungeons actually had motivations like this to run them at any point in time, not just during an event like this.
How willing are people in this game to teach players who haven’t yet done many of the dungeons? I’ve tried many times to get into ESO but have always been turned off for one reason or another. An event like this that encourages dungeon running, which I’m quite fond of, would be something that could potentially draw me to the game. I guess I’m asking how friendly people are to new players in PUGs.
Normal dungeons are usually pretty simple. I wouldn’t worry much. I’d stay away from tanking if you’re new, because tanking in ESO is unlike tanking pretty much anywhere else with a really small number of proper taunts. It is more about crowd-control, which requires a lot of situational awareness.
Especially during the event you’re likely to find a ton of higher-power players going through. If you queue as dps you’ll probably be just fine.
Sometimes you get jerks like every game, but I wouldn’t worry much. The difficulty isn’t that tough on normal and frequently you’ll be with people who can carry while you learn the ins-and-outs.
I actually have had a few starts with ESO. Beta was a mess; b2p launch was good, but vet ranks were killer. I came back a few months ago playing totally casual on a new character and between OT, the DLCs and years of fixes I have steadily fallen more and more in love with the game.
Truth be told, the LFG puts you into a group of randoms, so..expect the same mixed bag of results that you get in any game with PUGs.
If you like grouping, there are multitudes of guilds out there that love to help people and be social. I’d join a couple of them, and be as picky as you need to be until you find the guild that is the right fit for you.

@Bree wrong date – it starts November 30th :)
That depends on whether or not they fixed the LFG tool which was broken for more than a year after launch.
It works fine now. I use it for the daily reward and have never had an issue.
The only problem is that if you queue as a damage dealer you may have to wait a while.
I’ve been queuing as DPS on my NB for weeks now without much issue. Off-hours can be slim, but the event should have pops frequently. I’m just happy I got my old Templar all set to heal. Slims down that wait time. I should really properly set up my tank so I can get insta-pops.
You should check the date. I’m pretty sure the event begins on the 30th, not the 20th.
Lockbox piss game.
Not really. And yet you say the same old thing every time.
Yeah that drum is getting tired of being beaten.
If you want to throw the baby out with the bath water then go ahead. The rest of us are going to enjoy the game.
