Wild West Online teases character creation and PvP faction choice in new video

Oh, you're busy, we can come back later.

Still fretting over the Wild West Online’s surprise move from FFA PvP to faction-based PvP? Today’s video is a quick look into the character selection screen looks, with delete and rename options – but it’s got a bit of a peek at faction selection too. “Gunslingers” and “Trailblazers” actually sounds pretty spiffy.

“By popular request, you can now delete and rename characters. Newly created characters must exist for 48 hours first (and we reserve the right to change that timeout), but once that time has passed you can delete them. You can rename any character anytime, for a nominal charge in Treasure Notes currency.”

Developer 612 Games says to expect more “exciting new stuff in the next few weeks.” The didn’t-quite-make-early-access-in-2017 MMO is currently half off through the new year.

Newly created characters must exist for 48 hours first (and we reserve the right to change that timeout), but once that time has passed you can delete them. Tbh it’s good that the game isn’t FFA PvP. Only a minority of the WWO community seems to even want FFA, and it looks like there are more folks wanting to discourage griefing more than anything. So it’s refreshing to see that the devs are listening to the community rather than catering to the vocal minority that plagues any sandbox game and tries to dominate the environment.

I have hopes for this game. It’s very pretty. Horse riding animations are perhaps the best I’ve ever seen. I had fun just riding around and exploring. Hopefully they have gotten the message about how many early backers are wanting an RP experience and a life in a western setting, not just a PvP shooter. It seems to be moving away from a hardcore PvP game thankfully.
