The thing about Blizzard’s Hearthstone marketing team is that they are stone cold crazy. I have the impression that they sit around the debate table spitballing ideas, and instead of throwing out the wacky ones in pursuit of something mainstream, they intentionally take the weirdest thing and just run with it. They’re like the most expensive and well-produced dad jokes ever.
I was particularly fond of the Lich King videos from the Knights of the Frozen Throne release.
Justin, however, thought this one should win.

If this were a poll, LotRO‘s Mordor trailer would win the reader’s version by a landslide, and deservedly so. The Hearthstone videos were meant to take themselves seriously.
I guess the category was “best worst video” and not “worst video”, so carry on.
I agree as soon as I read the article heading my first thought was LOTRO’s xpac trailer will win this easily. Worst trailer I’ve seen In years.
I went out and watched this for the first time last night after reading this. Funny stuff especially the youtube comments.
Those HS trailers are stylish and funny. I dont see how they can be “worst”.
For the worst – LoTRO’s Mordor trailer immediately came to mind. Official trailer for big MMORPG looking like it was made by 13 years old
Oh come on, the original LoTRO Mordor trailer was easily the worst of the year. :)
PS/Haha, I posted before I even read a single response. Great minds think alike….even though LoTRO really is a great MMORPG despite this trailer.

I’m not sure about “best worst” but for just plain worst, I’d suggest the LOTRO Mordor official video.
Those are the only ones I recall that were clever at all this year. Everything else was just the same old ‘save the world/ are you ready to meet your destiny/enter a world you’ve never experienced’ crap.

Okay, the “Lich King Reads Comments” made me laugh out loud.
Then again, I have been accused of “Dad Joke” humor here myself in the past, so maybe it was inevitable?
I’m thinking that maybe Massively Mama Bree should commission a “comment dungeon” complex for herself as well. Some of the Star Citizen posters, for example, definitely need some sort of extreme “time out”. :-)
