Huh!

There are many possible reactions to that headline. Some of you are expressing disbelief that Aion could be moving to a free-to-play model in South Korea after maintaining its subscription model for such a long time. Some others are expressing disbelief that the game could possibly be a decade old.

Let us reassure you that yes, it is in fact accurate. Aion was released in South Korea in November 2008. So the business model is not shifting on the 10th anniversary, but near the 10th anniversary. It’s part of the game’s big REFLY update, which promises changes to class balance, leveling speed, and many new features. There will even be a new server for players to explore.

You can check out a trailer for the update just below, if you’re so inclined. So enjoy the news about the game’s fate in another region or just sit there, shaking your head and muttering that it cannot possibly be 10 years old. Time is fun!
