Massively OP’s Weirdest MMORPG Stories of 2017: Stream honking

We’re continuing our countdown of Massively OP’s weirdest MMORPG stories of 2017!

Coming in at #3 on our list is…

But seriously, how is stream honking actually a thing

Last summer, when PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was juuuuuust breaking out and people were starting to notice it as it was taking over Stream and Twitch, video game griefers invented a brand-new way to screw with their fellow players: stream honking. And it is exactly what it sounds like.

“Imagine you’re MJ playing a gankbox on a stream. It wouldn’t be unheard of for somebody to figure out where she is and come and mess with her, even try to kill her. (That death counter isn’t gonna feed itself, after all.) But in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, people are showing up not to gank streamers but to flood their stream feeds with… honking. You know, with video game car horns.”

At least we haven’t hit total rock bottom in the griefing department, I guess.

Stay tuned tomorrow for another entry in the countdown, and don’t forget to check out our annual MMORPG awards and our blooper awards while you’re at it!
