Destiny 2 players erupt over token throttling bugs

Another day, another Destiny 2 subreddit meltdown, and it’s not over the Eververse cash shop, holiday items, or lockboxes this time.

Redditors report a multitude of major bugs with the last patch, including faction token throttling affecting lost sectors (probably an unintended side-effect of Bungie’s attempt to patch up an exploit in the first faction rally – and that after a long delay to this rally), emote sales, and still more token bugs that apparently are throttling tokens from public events too.

To its credit, Bungie has responded to several of the threads requesting bug reports and feedback, but that hasn’t stopped players from forming yet another massive thread urging people to stop playing the game until Bungie gets it together. “If you’re upset with the direction the game is going, the best way to show them is to just stop playing,” they argue.

Update: Bungie has now updated the community on what’s going on with faction rally weapons.

Bungie sure loves tripping over themselves over and over and over and over and over and over and over…

That was pretty disappointing. I enjoy clearing Lost Sectors, but I got loot only from 2 of them. Chests from the other 3 were empty. I thought that it was another texture collision bug though.

How to destroy a franchise 101.

They need to do more than bug fixes.

They need a full expansion amount of content, they need new enemies, new zones, new weapon types, new speeder functionality, new chat/clan software, new mechanics.

This game wasn’t a sequel, it was a demo for the sequel. Bungie can burn with EA as far as I’m concerned.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft keeps making really good games.

I can’t even be surprised when they mess something up anymore. Of course something went wrong. I thought about reinstalling to check out the Faction Wars thingy but I’ll pass. I find its become exhausting keeping track of all the things that have gone wrong. I’ll occasionally pop into that subreddit not with the mentality of “Did they fix anything yet?” but rather “What’s gone wrong today?” I don’t know if a year is enough for them to turn things around anymore. Sigh.

I’m one of the ones “erupting”. I was really looking forward to the excuse to go clear out all the Lost Sectors that I haven’t touched in months (because rewards aren’t great) but…between the LS change (which is hilariously stupid) and the bugs making some folks not earn consistent rewards from Public Events – not to mention the removed weapons and other issues, I may not even log in beyond doing my usual weekly milestones (which I’ll run out of soon thanks to almost being 335 power level…as a casual player who doesn’t raid/do nightfalls/pvp). My issue isn’t about efficiency/maximizing tokens per hour, which so many in the Reddit simply couldn’t understand, but rather that I’m not allowed to engage in NORMAL, non-exploitative gameplay without being penalized for it or made to jump through hoops to avoid these arbitrary restrictions and bugs.

I’m almost close to being resigned to Bungo literally fucking up everything and just enjoying watching the game burn. Was mad hyped and preordered/bought season pass and I don’t regret it, but the constant disappointment and frustration as Bungo bungles their way from one blunder to the next isn’t worth it anymore. If I can at least get some enjoyment out of eating popcorn while watching them torch their own home, that’s better than nothing : /

Still don’t know what the sandbox team is supposed to be doing, other than maybe playing in the in-house Bungo sandbox every day, or something : |

Also – This is purely Bungo. There is zero indication this games problems are the result of Activision at all, including Eververse which was purely a Bungo idea that Activision simply green-lit.

As someone that for the past 3 weeks has been working on 3 chars weeklies, I’m about done myself. It seems they cannot for the life of them get their RNG/algorithms for proper loot tables solidified long enough for me to feel like it’s worth playing at this point.

And a faction rally just after the dawning event with no real adjustment/additions to content? Please. If you’re going to claim a drip-feed content system is better for you guys, then show and prove.

Also, I think it was confirmed that the Eververse and content scheduling was a Bungie idea alone and you’re right Activision said, “Ok if you guys think that’s what you want to do! D1 did alright!”

Most triple A games I’ve come to expect (especially multiplayer player ones) are just making misstep after misstep.

yeah… thats the thing players fail to realize. All bungies and activisions efforts were in getting you to BUY the game, which a lot of people did.

They got what they wanted. At this point, what you do doesnt really matter.

The “few” saps that hang around and spend money on the eververse or DLC’s at this point, is just bonus money for them.

Isn’t a good portion of the outrage coming from consolers this time? I think it was for the Battlefront drama. I think PC gamers are just much, MUCH better at discovering truths in a game than your everyday consoler – so the outrage spreads more quickly.

@Armsbend I really don’t know, just being snarky. Put a 4 hour session in a week and enjoy myself.

I’m becoming immune to all this rage.

It is, actually. Console players actually seem to be MORE upset at a lot of this shit than PC folks, since they have far more invested in the franchise in terms of time/emotional investment.

Is there a AAA game released in the last year with this many “Do they even do QA testing before release?” flubs month to month?

This is like the 8th time since launch we have had a case of reddit having to inform bungie that they released something be it an update or singular item thats broken because of their own lack of foresight, testing or -gotta rip the band aid off- incompetence on some part of the team.

It should have its own weekly column at this point. Perhaps “Really Bungie? Again?!?”?
