Monster Hunter World shares the making of its game and multiplayer features

We are just a couple of short days away from the launch of Monster Hunter World on January 26th (at least for consoles), and excitement over this latest chapter in the popular big beastie slayer franchise is definitely high.

As part of the launch week frenzy, Capcom released a video documenting the making of the game. According to the press release, this video “examines how the project started and what inspired the vision behind bringing the living, breathing world of Monster Hunter to life on home consoles.”

It might also be prudent for players to give the day one patch notes a look over. This update will add several online features, such as multiplayer functionality, events, more languages, and chat. It also includes something called “Poogies” and we really don’t want to know more than that. “Get the Poogie to warm up to you by petting it in just the right way!” Seriously, patch notes, we just said we didn’t want to know more.

I haven’t really played a console game in quite some time. I’ve been sticking to pc gaming nearly exclusively. However, my fiance and I, decided that we wanted to pick up a ps4 for some of the exclusives and this was probably the best thing for me because I’ve been an avid MH player since it started and now I get to see it on a platform with some power. That being said, I can’t wait for pc release.

My last console was the Xbox 360 almost a dozen years ago. I’ve thought about choosing b/w the PS4 and Xbox One for a few years now, but really I just play PC games more than anything…and have since Dark Forces in 1995.

I’ll have to wait until late in the year (I won’t say Fall/Autumn, because it will be be Spring in my part of the world) for the PC release. I suppose by then, there will plenty of useful guides and tips to be had, though. ;)

For me the PS4 version is a no-go because the text is so flipping tiny on my TV and I don’t want to feel like I have to press my face against the TV just to read things without squinting like crazy. I’ll just wait for the PC version.

Normally I’m pretty easy-going when it comes to games I’m excited for, but the wait for MHW is excruciating. I can’t wait to finally have the real game and not have to deal with the little annoyances from the beta.

So. Those little cats with hats in the pictures? Are those some of the animals we kill? Presumably for their bones, skin and for sport?

Nope, those are Felynes, cutesy NPC helpers whose main function is to support lone hunters during hunts.
