Funcom announces new forums coming for all of its titles — including Secret World Legends

Sometimes you really want to stick around to the very end of developer livestreams for any surprise announcements. In Friday’s dev stream, Funcom shocked and probably pleased many fans with the announcement of brand-new forum software for all of its titles.

“Moving forward, we’re going to be launching new forums for all of our games,” the studio said. “We’re going to be using the Discourse platform. All of our games will eventually be under this system, so we’re unifying all of our games under one single umbrella.”

Age of Conan should see the new forum software very soon — if not already — with other titles to follow. And yes, Funcom specifically confirmed that this announcement includes Secret World Legends and Conan Exiles.

The lack of official forums has been a particular sticking point with the Secret World Legends community, which has been forced to scrounge around on Twitch, Reddit, Twitter, and the occasionally updated website for official information and discussion.

Wait, they had perfectly good forums for TSW. Are you telling me they launched the revamp without setting up forums for SWL??? That’s nuts!

Their account management page could do with an uplift too.

Oh thank goodness. Forums/website for the direct, Discord for dev chat, Reddit for general discussions, Twitch for the news blurbs, Youtube for videos – IMO. People invested in the game and want to continue to be invested, kinda need the forum. Reddit isn’t enough – but enough for the, ahem, ‘normies’.

The biggest issue outside the fact that reddit is a cesspool, is that extremely helpful and great conversations have no hope, they drift into the abyss under the weight of asshats and people bent on hating on the game as they are butt hurt that funcom went SWL and dropped TSW.

TSW was dead; two things, they could have let it die completely and shut it down forevermore, but rolled the dice on a revamp and now SWL is alive and doing great.

OMG the weekend i just had, key free weekend, I’ve not done so many lairs, dungeons, scenarios, Mega Boss’s all tolled since i started playing, felt like anyway. However my biggest surprise was the unbelievable amount of regional’s we were doing, we were farming them for hours on end each day with our Cabal, peeps from other Cabal’s were leeching ours then we’d go leech theirs afterward. F’ing amazing time.

Overwhelming, spectacular weekend. The game continues to surprise me, just when i think it can’t get any better than this; it does!

Now if they can only figure out how to interact with their customers/players…

Hooray! Took their sweet time, but glad that we’ll have official forums rather than needing to rely exclusively on reddit. Hopefully we’ll get some solid functionality out of it to make tracking dev/CM posts easy.

Agreed, i was no fan of the current implementation at all.

Now overhaul their account management page and we’re in business; that thing is atrocious.

This is a great move in the time of games using Reddit as an official forum. Let the devs release information through their own platform while still maintaining a presence on external sites.

Glad to see it, finding information has been a real pain. It’s probably also a good sign they’re willing to spend the time and money on supporting their portfolio.
