Red Dead Redemption 2 has been delayed yet again, this time to October 2018

Red Dead Redemption 2 is suffering another long delay, this time to October. The new official launch date is October 26th, 2018.

“We apologize to everyone disappointed by this delay,” Rockstar said today on its blog. “While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish.”

The game was first announced in October of 2016 with a fall 2017 launch planned. But by May of last year, Rockstar had already pushed that estimate off into 2018, barely making its own “summer” deadline to pick spring 2018 for the console launch.

But hey, at least they pushed out a bunch of screenshots to keep us busy.

FTFY. With Take 2’s grubby handprints all over NBA 2K18 and GTA:O, I’m not even looking forward to RDR 2. That’s quite disappointing since I loved the last game (and the original Red Dead Revolver).

That’s fine. RockStar puts out solid software. I prefer more polish and delayed gratification.

Great news for Wild West Online I suppose…

Dev 1, “Have you seen the news, players arent willing to put up with lockboxes being so integrated into games anymore, we should take ours out”

Dev 2, “Well drat, ours are so embedded into the core gameplay, we are gonna need several more months just to rework the entire engine! Push the release date back again!”

despite the take 2 exec’s comments about under monetizing players i feel like rockstar has enough pull and a record on top of it to keep the monetization to gtao levels.

which despite reddit’s qq campaigns is alot more player friendly than one might otherwise believe if one stopped playing due to frustration with trying to PUG heists like the majority of that circle jerk seems to literally copy paste about.

From a single player perspective, i 100% agree.

Jump into GTA 5 multiplayer however, and enjoy getting worked over backwards and upside down by the whales and rich kids.

ALthough, with Red Dead, i plan to primarily just play the single player campaign, unless they have a co-op option, in which case ill 100% play that.

was actually explicitly talkingabout gtao.

there’s some progression and grind involved but it’s far less grindy than the typical proper mmo we’re all accoustimed too and higher levels and better gear/vehicles is rarely a god mode situation like in typical proper mmo’s with insane math based power curves.

there is a real problem with modders/hackers tho, which rule of thumb is first signs of those (which does take some time to learn) change sessions. or otherwise when doing business game the sytem to get a fresh lobby for you and your friends.

otherwise it honestly has one of the most friendly in game communities i;ve ever experiecned and we’ve invited so many people to our mumble to hang out and play with us and recruited a few while at it becuase of that. i mean there’s plenty of creepers and shitty people too like any game but i’m usually not putting my guild mumble addrress in chat for any other pub game we play. >>

Perfectly fine with the delay.

I know that’s not a popular sentiment these days but life really isn’t as short as people keep saying so, no hurry for me.

Hopefully there will be Buffalo Soldier themed clothing. I’d really, really like a game screenshot of that.

Did you see the recent Netflix series ‘Godless’? The series was okay but they had a few scenes referenced to The Buffalo Soldiers. To be perfectly honest, I didn’t know or think much about them beyond the Marley tune until I watched the show.

I haven’t seen “Godless” yet but I have always found the story of the Buffalo Soldiers a unique and singular American military and experience.

The fact that Native Americans named them was particularly interesting as a sign of respect, although it’s sad the government used them as weapons against them.

Also the span of wars they fought in was pretty notable as a group.

I’ve already decided not to be surprised if RDR 2 gets delayed into 2019. Rockstar is one of the few companies that can afford to release a game “when it’s ready,” so it wouldn’t bother me any if no release date was even announced yet.
