Watch 15 minutes of Ashes of Creation in action

For Ashes of Creation fans, January has provided a video bonanza to help with the lengthy wait to beta and launch. Last week we were treated to a look at the game’s surprisingly beautiful Underrealm, and this week it’s a hands-on romp through the world.

IGN took a developer tour of the game this week, noting that while there were (presumably) placeholder kill 10 rats quests and a lack of many standard features in the pre-alpha, the combat was “punchy” and the non-instanced dungeon an exciting concept.

You can watch some of this tour after the break. It may not be the most in-depth video ever, but there is plenty of eye candy and combat to behold.

I guess my thing is why would I play this over Final Fantasy or BDO?

Well, I didn’t like BDO or FFXIV so this looks more interesting to me. Can’t speak for everyone though!

Time will tell but they have made good progress, have a highly experienced and impassioned team that plans to add great features or polish existing industry standard ones.

Animations look strikingly good for a pre-alpha, but actual gameplay looks fairly shallow and their planned content doesn’t sound very groundbreaking or innovative at all, so I’m not exactly sure what is supposed to be the major draw to this mmo.
Mark my words, this game will be the next ArcheAge at launch.

From the article:

…and the non-instanced dungeon an exciting concept.

Yes, a concept pioneered by SOE in Everquest in 1999 – yep, truly exciting/groundbreaking. ;)

Looks generic as all hell, just wow-clone number 178475904 but with up to date graphics. Playable, but nothing special by any means.

Because it’s in Pre-Alpha and the video shows little of what there actually is to do maybe?

I predicted Ashes will be a meh mediocrity and every new footage proves me right.

Because Alphas are representative of the finished product am I right? I will read your comment in 2 years time and laugh.

Looks just okay. I’m more curious about how it’ll look, and what features are shown off, in 2019.

The terrain in the vid reminds me so much of Ark Aberration.

Why is the player’s name in the middle of the screen all the time?

Ummm, it looks ok I guess but the pvp kills it stone dead for me.

Its what attracts me to this mmo.

I cant wait to join a solid pvp guild and fight for nodes / defend / attack caravans.

PvE makes an mmo so dull and boring….Having an open world and zero danger…..

And I find wandering around a PvP zone dull and uninteresting. Funny old world, isn’t it ?

Then the game isn’t for you, don’t hit your head on the way out.

Attitudes like that will keep people from ever trying. So insecure you just ‘had’ to reply to a month old post ?

Actually, looking at the replies you have made to others posts, you are.

Also, how can the door hit me on the way out, if I don’t go ‘in’ in the first place ?

ok, ok, ok! So keeping in mind that this is, what? a pre-alpha? It looks good.

But of course we are seeing manicured snippets. Not a criticism, but many of us, need a bit more to make us commit. Lol.

There is a game here at least. So, now. Let’s talk time tables and please avoid the dreaded “soon”

I think its 2 years before release so 2020 before summer is my gues.
