Trion is delaying the name reclaim game in RIFT

In RIFT, your name in the game can be a pain to retain. Especially when the developers plain to reclaim a big chunk of older names, something scheduled for February 14th. But there’s good news if you didn’t have a chance to lock the name in, as it turns out the developers have postponed the name reclamation for a later date.

Why? Apparently it’s just a scheduling issue, with the previously announced date not working well for the five to six hours of downtime required. Players will be notified in advance of the new date, so you have a little more time to make sure that your name remains yours in the future.

I dunno… It’s a Rift article here on MOP and that dude who ALWAYS complains about Trion not being able to resolve his connection problems hasn’t posted yet.

The more important question is why would someone schedule this on Valentines days to begin with?

I have this feeling I am going to log on and all my characters will be gone.

First, I never got any email notifying me of the name release nor was it in my spam folder.

Second, you might want to check whether it’s correct to say that people have more time to log in and retain their name. The release action was intended to take effect in relation to all characters unplayed for a year as at 31st January, 2018 and I haven’t seen any change mentioned in that respect.

I get the impression the date change is for the job run only, it sounds like they are still going to use the name data taken on Jan 31st according to Brasse’s post on the forums.

I agree, that’s how it came across to me too. The article is misleading and needs editing unless MOP know differently.
