Check out voice recording from behind the scenes of Bless

Flying nowhere.

You are probably aware that when you play an MMO, all of the voice samples you here are not produced in real-time by actors in a small box who desperately wish to see their families again. But that doesn’t mean you know about how it actually goes when you start producing voice work for a video game. So here’s some good news, if you’re curious: actor Brent Miller recorded his sessions for Bless voiceover.

That is, he recorded the video of him performing the voiceovers. By which we mean… all right, look, there is a video down below and it is of him doing the voices. It’s not a terribly long video at only 10 minutes, but it should give you an idea of what it’s like to do multiple takes, refine the voice over time, and stand there whilst voicing multiple characters and trying to get in the right mindset. It’s more than just reading off a list of lines, and it’s pretty fun to watch besides.

Well this game will be a cash grab with a sub,b2p and cash shop and never do business with steam. They are the worst company for games known to man

I’ve always found voice actors fun to watch. Many of them are so much more animated than normal actors!

I spent far too long rewatching the end to see if I could read the producer’s lips on what he was saying about the relrase date.

I think anyone who’s ever taken a video selfie or recorded an answering machine message already kind of knows what goes on for the most part, except they don’t get as much money in the end. :)

Still don’t understand your crusade against voice actors.
Maybe we should stop paying actors too, everyone knows how to walk and stuff too.
And do we really need painters and musicians too? I can play the kazoo while painting my backyard fence.

Down with the arts!

I think the bigger issue is the (perceived) attitude and mentality of VA is often elitist and condescending … I can’t think of a single VA interview where someone asked “how does someone get into doing VA work?” and the answer wasn’t “you don’t: everyone who isn’t already a professional VA is trash and your voices are all terrible.” Which is then followed by an anecdote about how a lady at a bank tried to imitate porky pig and it was garbage.

None if which is the slightest help to people trying to build a VA career.

Yeah, we get it: you don’t want anymore competition for gigs … But just maybe producers would take VA’s a little more seriously if the entite industry wasnt just Yuri Lowenthal, John DiMaggio, & Tara Strong trying to under bid everyone else by signing up for every voice on the show.
