Actually no more or less mastered.

It seems like just yesterday we were reporting on speculation about a Warcraft 3 remaster, due to the fact that it was in fact yesterday. But now it’s today, and the good news is that we know what’s being planned. It’s a new patch for the game! Also a big tournament event.

We’re sorry for those of you who were hoping for a full-on remaster. The 15-year-old game will remain exactly as mastered as it currently is. It will, however, get all of those spiffy new patch features.

So what’s in the patch? Updates to the game editor, new support for 24 players on a single map, new hero balance changes, the ability to form clans, and widescreen support for the game. It’s not actually any sort of new content, obviously, but it’s a nice tip of the hat to a game whose sequel went on to have a pretty big impact, to boot.
