Astroneer’s latest update adds basebuilding mechanics to the space sandbox

Oh, Astroneer. You sit on my Steam wish list, tempting me to break my “no early access games” rule every month. And here it goes again with the basebuilding update that landed last week – System Era Softworks says it’s the “largest content drop to date” for the gorgeous co-op space sandbox.

“Whether underground, on a mountaintop, or on far away planets, the all new Basebuilding and Power systems will allow players to create efficient bases that are all their own. This update includes 20+ completely new pieces of art, including new platforms, modules, control panels, and items to print. Working underground? Set up a solar farm on the surface and use the new power extenders to pipe that energy down to where you need it most. Feel like you want to head to another planet? Print some base packages and load them on your shuttle to get yourself started on your new home quickly.”

Do note that the game is still in alpha, though the 1.0 build is still expected at some point this year.
