Devilian has officially sunsetted

At some point, the ending credits have to roll. And Devilian’s have started as of 3:00 p.m. EST today. Devil transformations are now a thing of the past. Many fans gathered in game for a final farewell before sending the game off into the sunset — except for those who have Windows 10, in which case they got to wave goodbye to the  “stopped working” error.

Work on the fantasy game halted shortly after Bluehole, which owns Devilian developer Bluehole Ginno, renamed Bluehole Ginno after its newer title, PUBG. As the western publisher, Trion remained in talks to get continued support for the game (and the known Win10 issue), but I think we can see how that turned out. It is always sad to see a virtual world dissolve into oblivion. When you’re in the mood to reminisce, have a look at happier times when we took our very first look at alpha.

You know things must have been bleak when they turned to Trion, a company known for digging graves for online games, to save their mmo.

Heh. This game was a lot of fun for a few days. Not a place I would call my MMO home, but fun nonetheless. But once I went back to PoE, Devilain wasn’t even an afterthought. Sorry, but that is the truth. The market is saturated with games such as this, and when competing with PoE or other games of a similar ilk, you have to be innovative and creative. The Devil form provided neither really.

So, “Farewell and ado to ye fair spanish ladies, Farewell and ado to ye ladies of Spain!”

This game was ttly fantastic except for the “devil form” thing which over complicated things. I know thats why I stopped playing it anyway.

For what it’s worth, it worked fine on my windows 10 system. I enjoyed the game for a spell. I think it lacked depth but the combat was fun. Sad to see any MMORPG leave, even ones I no longer play.

I played for a few days. It just wasn’t for me.

I know I shouldn’t care shouldn’t care, especially if I never got into the game, but I feel bad when games are shutting down, because even if they are all for the money grab, it’s the developer’s work and the people in publishing and stuff still working hard to make it happen.

Well yeah, but given the garbage this was I can’t make myself feel bad. Let the developers move on to make games that are actually worth making.

Devlian wasn’t a passion project that they mortgaged their house to get made…devs got paid to make it and they did.
