RIFT starts Carnival celebration, previews Tenebrean Prison warfront

RIFT’s anniversary event, Carnival, is now raging across the game’s live servers — but not on the new Prime progression server. While the latter does have a vendor that sells some Carnival items for void stones, the team has decided not to bring the event to Prime “in keeping with the early days of RIFT.”

But for those on the other servers, Carnival offers plenty of fun games, activities, and rewards, including the new pegasus pet Celeste, more masks, weapon runes, a raid tier 2 earring, and the 7th anniversary cape. If you are looking for a festival guilde, Rift Gate has one that’s only two years out of date. Carnival will last through April 5th.

The RIFT team is also taking a look at the latest PvP warfront to be added to the game, Tenebrean Prison. You can check it out on the live servers or by watching today’s developer livestream.

Prime could desperately use an event like Carnival. I’m guessing the devs just couldn’t spare the effort to tweak it for that server. Otherwise, wouldn’t they have announced this much earlier?

I logged in for a few seconds today, first time I’ve managed in a long time, my Framerates are through the roof (pleasant surprise there was there some massive engine overhaul?), the textures look weird even though I have them on ultra (I’m sure it’s a matter of tweaking settings but I assume that at Ultra my textures should be maxed, and after playing GW2 and ESO Textures really help with immersion). I’m going to see if Overwolf has any settings or support for Rift through Sweet FX.

So it looks like Primalist Tanks are the Bees Knees correct?

If I want the old Reaper feel then I assume Reaver in Warrior is the way to go, is it Meta after all that time revamping it? If I went with Warrior are Voidknights worth anything these days or should I just stick with a Primalist?

one of the most understated missing from making prime feel more like launch/vanilla is puremallace’s presence all over the internet anywhere rift is mentioned even in passing :D

I guess I can see why they’d ditch the Carnival, but if this is going to be a temporary server then that’s a bit of a copout since we don’t know if the server will even last through next year to have a proper Carnival.

Then characters transfer to Live 2019, where Carnival will happen.

I have to say I have a lot less enthusiasm towards this game since they downright banned people on the forums voicing their concerns over the maintenance window. The messages were civil, although the frustration over the harshly extended maintenance was clear. I wasn’t one of these people, but it was just sad to see so many getting hit over valid concerns. Prime is currently their number one pet, and if you have problems on any other live server, good luck on getting anything done about it.

It seems like Rift is just not worth the time and money anymore— at least for me. All complaints were removed from the forums, so it looks like nothing ever happened. Shiny happy people laughing.

I was really sad when I learned Prime server wasn’t getting the carnival. We got two vendors instead. One vendor full of food and drinks I don’t have use for – if the food could be eaten during battle, then they would have high value. The other vendor has a few fluff things for extremely high prices in void stone currency. I’d really like to get a mini wind-up horse! But void stones tend to drop regularly only during invasions, and rarely get them during normal rifts and a few quests. I have 200 and been playing since release steadily. I can’t see how I can farm those void stones in any time frame before the event ends, which makes me really sad.

I’ve been doing all quests and occasional events and I earned at least several hundred VS. Stonefield Lv 23.

i’ve farmed amaybe about 5-600 total from doing alot of invasions whenever they proc, which originally i was doing so due to awareness that invasions were needed to overcomb quest gaps (which i find amusing because they said they lowered quest exp to be more like launch but in reality the first week was the opposite of launch in that rifts/invasions were actually good exp and questing couldn’t be done without other things to even out the exp).

rift prime is fun in a nostalgic way but one annoying thing is that the server is so laggy and splls often really unresponsive in odd and annoying ways. it’s not so bad in alot of the leveling pve so far but definitely stands out in pvp

I’ve seen a few people in chat complain about lag, but haven’t experienced it since maintenance. That fixed the problem for me. I’ve been playing lag free the last few days.

both my lag and crashign have gotten worse since maint. not sure if it ‘s the going into higher level zone/dungeons/wf’s or the patch. but it’s definitely alot worse.

sometimes my rogue mm finiisher with a cooldown will proc the CD but not use the combo points or fire off now. before maintence it was mostly just myhard cast spells that were having problems.

I haven’t had any lag issues, but the crashes come and go. I can play for 5 hours with no problems then get 5 in 30 minutes. But it’s pretty sporadic.
