H1Z1 adds duos to auto royale, sees playerbase surge since free-to-play

It may be way down in players since last summer’s peak, but Daybreak isn’t giving up on H1Z1. The newly rebranded, newly launched, and newly free-to-play battle royale progenitor updated ahead of the weekend with tweaked for its auto royale mode – specifically, guided rocket launchers, which is definitely something every car needs. That’ll be handy when you’re partying with a partner: “Auto Royale is now available as a Duos mode as well! Hop in with a friend (or stranger), decide who’s driving, and get into the action.”

Free-to-play seems to have helped the game a bit, if you were wondering; Steam Charts says that over the last 30 days, it’s nearly tripled its low February numbers, pushing back up to November/December 2017 tallies, but still a long way off from its 150,000 peak player count last year.
